Hello;
I am looking at what is ideal for finishing spring steel to have:
1) Bright, polished-like finish
2) Black, dull finish
I am thinking nickel plated, and black phosphate or black oxide.
Application is for a belt clip, with outdoor use.
I look forward to your assistance.

Hello all;
I am developing a life raft light that needs SOLAS approvals. Does anyone have experience with approval agencies that provide SOLAS certifications? I am located in Canada, but don't mind using agencies from elsewhere. Thanks,
Steve

We are developing a beacon/emergency light that has a 3.5" wire passing through a PC/ABS plastic shell. The unit needs to be water-tight.
We are currently using a 2-part potting material (don't have the spec in front of me) but it leaks through all the small cavities around the wire body, so...
To move both witness lines at once:
1-click the first witness line,
2-press and hold CTRL,
3-click the view where the witness lines belong to,
4-click and drag the witness line,
5-drop the line where needed.
Now both lines are aligned.
PS. This doesn't work on WF1.0, but does work on WF2.0...
Hello;
I am looking for a flexible, and abrasion resistant paint to be applied to a urethane part. The part is a 13" diameter ball, made with a .25" thick urethane material, duro 40 (approx). So the material will be flexible and we want the paint to adhere to it without peeling off. This ball...
Ever wanted to keep drawing views at the same place, for each page?
One of the many ways to do is is as follows:
1) In drawing mode, right-mouse-button on the main window and select LOCK VIEW MOVEMENT.
2) Select a view and pick PROPERTIES > ORIGIN.
3) Pick VIEW CENTER and enter an X and Y...
In ProE 2001, it was easy to move the pair of witness lines at the same time.
In WF2.0 it is a bit different.
1) Hold down the CTRL key, and click the drawing view associated with that dimension and the dimension.
2) Now drag the pointer and both witness lines will move at once.
Note: You...
Without getting into too many details, I would like to know if a comparible welding process on CR steel and 6000-aluminum is similar in cost? Taking into account weld prep time.
The reasons include various design options using steel or aluminum tubing, but all include welding operations.

Just for fun, try this.
Make a new assembly, using any 2 parts. Simple parts will do.
Assemble the first part as DEFAULT.
Assemble the second part. Pick a flat surface from one part, and then from the other part.
Once you see the message prompt: "INDICATE OFFSET DIMENSION", click the "X"...
Wow, no posts for a few days now. I guess everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving.
Well, enjoy and have a great weekend.

Color the first instance of a pattern differently from the rest of the part. This way, as you assemble components, it is easy to identify the first pattern instance, making patterned assemblies a breeze.
I dont take credit for this tip, I came across it a few years back, from I cant remember...
For those of you who use flat screens, what seems to be the best option for brightness, refresh rate... and best brand.

I am looking at getting a laptop for both 2001 and WF. I dont plan to use it for heavy assemblies or FEA type work. Most assemblies would be under 1000 components.
What experience have you had with the various models from IBM, HP and Dell?
Thanks,
Steve

When you make new Windows folders, use either upper or lower case for the first letter. If you mix the case, then Pro/E sorts folders by upper case first, then by lower case.
So you get;
D:/Projects/...
ABC1
ABC2
ABC3
abc
abc-1

Here's a little tip to handle revison changes and desdcriptions from part/assembly to drawing.
In a part or assembly model, create a Note, and call it "REV0", enter the note description as "ORIGINAL RELEASE".
In the drawing, enter text in the revision table as "&REV0" and now you will see the...
Sometimes you need to pull a Real Number value and mix it with a Text value to create a string. Example, you have a Family table for pipe lengths.
With ProE Parameters, you can't mix real numbers with text, unless they are converted using itos (integer to string), and then it rounds up...
Ever have a bunch of drawing notes that you often use?
Then to get quick access to them, simply make a new drawing (format is note important), and add your notes here.
Give this new drawing a name that places it at the top of a directory, like "0-notes.drw"
Now, when you create a drawing and...
