Working on fixing a small 120v dimmer, and it has a fairly simple circuit, but there's a component I've never seen before.
I think it's some form of diode, but the symbol is like 2 diodes facing each other, IE ->|<- and the part is labeled "DB3"
I need to know how i'd check this component...
I am the part designer, not manufacturer. I have a very simple cylindrical part, with particular importance to the inner and outer surfaces. It is basically a sleeve bearing. Our manufacturer is, for some unknown reason, having trouble meeting the requirement for the surface finish of the ID...
As a result of the wonderful forced transition to ISO, we're trying to find information on methods used to track print checks. When we make new prints or revise prints, we run through a fairly simple cross check. Each engineer/draftsman (we all do both here) passes their prints off to another in...
I have 2 tensile gauges, who's controllers will accept text through the serial port (rs232 f.w.i.w) and can be requested to send their peak readings, and then requested to re-zero themselves. I've been communicating with them from the computer remotely through hyperterminal. Now I need to be...
I've been struck with the tinkerer's curse.
I am working on an idea to transfer power from a small bank of solar cells outside, through a window, and to a small battery pack/charger on the inside.
I only have conceptual ideas how to go about this. I don't even really know where to start...
We're in the late stages of a design that uses 2 pins, both Ø0.125" pin, 1.750" long and 0.540 long. It has a small (Ø1.4mm) cord running over it, so abrasive resistance and not wearing the cord excessively are of paramount importance. We’ve decided stainless steel is probably our best option to...
Ok, first off, I'm not an engineer, so that may be part of the problem.
What I'm trying to figure out is how many combinations of parts we could have.
We have 4 parts. Those parts are assembled togather, and only one of each part is used in the assembly. The parts are made in an 8 cavity mold...
Anyone have or know where I might find whatever is needed to have SolidWorks lay in UNEF thread profiles? I'm needing to drop a 1/2"-28 thread onto a part but don't have much information to do it with, and am suprized to find now that SW doesn't have the UNEF...odd as they are I suppose.
All...
I need some advice and clarification about specifying surface roughness and finish.
I've spec'd out a simple Ø.125" pin from 302SS, grand total of 1.750" long, with simple corner breaks to take care of burrs. Along the center of the pin, I put a simple leader and the familiar "checkmark" and...
Well, We're finally coming around to starting a SW User's Group. First meeting is scheduled for April 17th, 6:30pm, just south of Tupelo, MS. No membership fees, no sales pitches, no cost except your time and travel. Free food and some prizes. We're hoping to make a valuable information source...
I'm trying to design a venturi tube to increase the velocity of warm rising air so that it can turn a small fan placed in the air stream.
Could someone give me some advice on proper design of a venturi, such as ratios of minimum diameter to intake, exhaust to intake, lengths, such things as...
We're constantly revising parts, and with the exception of a P.I.A. backup system, the model for the previous revision is gone by being modified.
Does anyone know if it's possible to make a new configuration, then set that one to active and make the changes. If it can, will the 'default'...
The situation:
Our Service Group produces Fabrication manuals for our fabricators using CorelDraw to do the illustrations. The illustrations are isometric representations of the models we have in SolidWorks.
The Problem:
The best format I've found for our service department to use in CorelDraw...
This is related to thread712-847.
We're designing a part where appearance is of high priority. Being run from acrylic. It's partially 'frosted' and the other part needs to be 'high polish' clarity. Could someone tell me where I might find reasonable information on how to fully specify a...
