We've installed SW2024 on three machines now and when we open a new file, SW minimises itself.
Has anyone else experienced this or know how to prevent it?
It's not too serious, but it is somewhat annoying.

Hi.
We've just upgraded to 2024 and now when we go to open a file it goes back to look in a default folder in the Dassualt Systems folders.
Previously it would open up in the last folder that we'd used which was a lot nicer.
I can't find a setting or command to make it revert to looking in the...
I'm having a problem whereby, when I create shut off surfaces in the mold tools, Solidworks is creating a surface at both ends of every hole or slot so that there are double the number of surfaces required.
I can delete the extra surfaces manually but it's a pain when there are a lot (imagine a...
Hi,
I wonder if someone can help me out?
We've repurposed a single phase plate fan and it seems to be running backwards.
Could someone advise on how to change the wiring to swap rotation?
It is wired as per the diagram attached, and I don't think it's ever been altered but it's definitely running...
I'm having a small problem with esnaps and dimensioning:
I can dimension from the center of a circle or arc once, but if I try to take a second dimension from the same centre the dimension wont snap to it.
I don't remember changing anything.
The same happens if I'm trying to draw a line from...
Hi.
We've just bought a small linisher.
It's 1.5kW 3-phase.
I've seen some very cheap inverters (<£100) that we could use to power it from a single phase supply, which would actually be cheaper than running a 3 phase supply to where we'd like to site it.
I've read some old threads here about...
Hi.
As part of our process we need to weld together some fairly small assemblies in fairly low volumes - say 100 at a time.
These assemblies weigh up to about 5kgs, are made up of up to 7 mild steel parts and are currently mig welded on home made jigs by hand.
We are struggling to keep up with...
Hi.
We have a quantity of solid chemical that we need to melt and pump into some machines for processing.
Ideally we'd like to put the solid material into a vessel, heat the vessel in an oven, and then pump it into the machines.
The liquid would be at 150 deg C. It has a similar viscosity to...
I hope someone here can answer some questions for someone with pretty much no knowledge of stainless steel.
We're a small family company who have recently had a new factory built. We had a nice stainless steel and glass arch installed over the office entrance. It's about 6m long and fabricated...
Hi.
I've just started monitoring our power using a Northern Designs Multicube 6.
The display shows (amongst other measurements)the combined power factor, and the individual phase power factors.
I've hooked it up to a pc using RS485 comms, but at the pc you can only read the individual power...
We are building a new factory and want to get a back up generator.
This would run on natural gas, for various reasons.
I've no experience of generators, only what i can glean off the web.
I'm wondering what questions I should put to potential suppliers.
We need to have back up power in case...

OK. I'm not a PM, but I'm about to enter into a project where I'll need to utilise some PM skills.
The scenario:
We're a small engineering company about to embark on out largest project yet, whereby we will build ourselves a new factory. To do this involves building...
I hope this is the correct place to post this question.
We are a small plastics manufacturer and are looking at building a new factory.
Most of our equipment (ovens etc) has extraction on it.
As we are looking at a new factory we thougt it might be possible to recover some waste heat from the...
I hope this is the right place to ask:
Are there any resources (preferably on line)for finding out information about old machinery.
I've just aquired an old automatic sawing machine, an Adige Elletropneumatic (That's the way it's spelt on the casting). I think the model designation is EP/48...
Could someone please help me identifying a taper:
Small diameter: 0.430"
Large diameter: 0.465"
Length: 0.55"
I have googled and searched this site but all to no avail.
The taper is on an air-powered tapper and I'm trying to get a replacement chuck. (Possibly Ingersol-Rand, but it's so old...
Please forgive me if this is the wrong forum, but can anyone point me in the right direction for a pull up latch / rod latch supplier in the UK?
I'm building a walk-in oven and I need some latches for the doors: the sort that latch at the top and bottom and "pull" the door shut tight when you...
Could anyone please point me in the direction for a supplier in th UK for "inductive LEDs"?
We have some ovens and for each element there is an LED indicator ,which has a coil on the back, on the control panel. The supply to the element wraps twice around the coil and that supplies enough...
I wonder if anyone could please help me...
We are using some small tool heaters running at 125 to 150 degrees C on some low pressure casting machines and the oil is coking up. Is there a detergent that can be added to thermal oil prior to an oil change which will help remove the deposits? The...
Firstly let me explain that this question is from someone who enjoys reading this forum and is about as far removed form "expert" status as you are likely to get, so apologies if I shouldn't post it here and feel free to red flag....
I recently noticed that for a given model of car the diesel...
Could someone perhaps answer a question that has caused some debate amongst some colleagues and myself please?
(We have NO connection with optics at all, this is just for fun and we are just curious...)
