Professor Krishnan Suresh did a presentation on geometry optimization (PareTO) at the April 17th Tech Summit. The method he presented allows a designer to find the optimum geometry of a part very quickly.
What he does amounts to doing numerous FEA runs starting with a block of material with...
I am working on a performance presentation and I ran across this interesting conundrum. I ran these benchmarks in 2009 and am doing so again in 2012 on a much faster machine. The rebuild times don't improve as much as the Punch Holder benchmark would suggest they should. 600s vs 48s
Does...

I have a sheet metal part saved on Windows 7, SW2012 SP1 64 bit. When I try to open it on Windows 7, SW2012 SP0 32bit, I get an error and the file won't read in. This only happens with sheet metal parts. Has anybody had this exact same problem between both service packs and 64/32 bit? It will of...
Has anybody setup an analysis of a transparent window, that is a window that is transparent to some wavelengths and absorptive of others? This is in the context of radiative heat transfer.

So far I have this:
sed -r 's/(<[^>\n]*>)//g'
It does pretty good with tags all on one line, but things like <img src=blah blah blah that may extend over more than one line are not being caught.
Likewise things like <style type=text/css> ... </style> where I want to remove not just the tags...

What are the best practices for creating a linkage?
I know there is the assembly layout sketch, a 2D sketch and there is the possibility of just creating links and assembling them.

That thread was closed without an answer. Here is the key to what he was trying to do, not the whole solution.
Maybe this would help:
ls -X *.jpg | sed -r s/"^(.+)(\.jpg)"/"\1\/&"/
ls was used to get some meaningful input and sed's output was dumped to stdout just for testing. The idea for the...
I had to do a presentation last night. I use randr to run my projector and it has worked fine for static screens. However, I had to show a video clip and fortunately I did a dry run. The video showed up as a black rectangle on the projector.
Fortunately there was a solution that was pretty...

One of the functionalities in 2012 is to highlight changes on the drawing the first time it is opened. How do you get this to work? Saw it in the demo, don't have the software.
