i attempted to use the paste special to insert a pdf into my paperspace. the quality of the picture degraded as it was inserted into AutoCAD.

when i insert a block there is a pull down menu to select the recently used blocks. i have since deleted and renamed some of the blocks. how do i clear this pull down menu?
It appears a previous engineer at our plant used a program that saved to .ecw file extension.
what program can i use to view this file, or does anyone know the program that was intially used?
as are company is growing, we are running out of part numbers. currently we have a some-what logical 2 letter and 4 number system (AB1234). i am wondering how many digits other companies are using. also what do you think is more efficient for manufacturing, a logical or random numbering system?
Is there a way to make volo understand what layers should be plotted and what layers should not? i have my viewports set up in AutoCAD to not plot, although when my drawing gets plotted through a Volo user, they show up and look miserable. i have messed with changing the color of my viewports...

I am experimenting with using an xref for my title block, and havent found any major problems yet but wanted your opinion also. the only downfall i noticed is a slightly slower response in the viewports in paperspace.

the hidden and center lines are visible in the model space, but when i switch to paper space to fit it to my title block they are all solid lines. any help would be appreciated.
I am needing to learn 3D in ACAD 2004. I have only drawn in 2D using R14 - 2004 in autocad versions. What books, reference material, webpages are the best for teaching 3D.
the models will be needed mainly for prototyping purposes, most of the CAD system will remain 2D at this point.
