Hi guys,
Bit of a novice with Project and it is doing something weird that is stumping me. I have assigned some resources as materials - say about 12 different items. I assign these to their relevant tasks, save and close the project and all seems well. At a later date I have then come to use...
Hello chaps,
Norsok M-710 standard, relating to non-metallic seals, applies to subsea systems and topside critical gas systems.
I have looked everywhere I can think of, and am now stuck; what do Norsok define as a "critical gas system"? Is it only those used for isolation for example...
Having major issues with assembling things for example dragging a component into an asm and then being told that every assembly relationship I try to make is not possible due to conflicts (impossible as there aren't any!) and also receiving circular dependency errors in components that have no...
Hi Chaps,
We are having some CFD flow analyses done of some of our CAD assemblies and the company undertaking this are importing the CAD files into Gambit to create the mesh for the CFD (as I understand it anyway).
We are using Solid Edge and the method I have used to try and simplify the...

Hi guys,
I'm looking for any help that you are able to offer with respect to obtaining tensile test data for A182 F44 down to a cryogenic temperature of -101°C (or -150°F for our cousins who (for now ;-)) still cling to the old ways!).
I need this data to be able to run some design...
Chaps and chapesses,
Please help!! I am getting rather annoyed by the hole table function in Solid Edge!!
Basically, one of our components has an array of holes patterned around the outside of a cylindrical tube.
Having done a detail view from outside of the cylinder of the pattern, I have...
Hi Guys,
I have a question about drift testing for API valves to which I think I know the answer, but would like to check.
From what I understand a drift test is essentially to ensure through any piping/valve system the full bore of the pipe is maintained.
Therefore by the very nature of a...
Afternoon Chaps and Chapesses,
Is there an easy way of changing the draft template in multiple SE drawings after we have updated the template, or is it a case of tediously copying and pasting each drawing across to the new border?
Cheers for the advice (in advance!)
Jon
Working on two different projects, one in SE and the other in Revision Manager and I'm now sick of the folder automatically changing in both programmes to the folder that was last used in either programme! Is there any way of breaking this link?
Jon
Hello chaps,
We have had our update for SE for some time now but as an organisation we fear change!!
Just trying to ascertain the pros and cons that people have found in actually using ST as opposed to the UGS/reseller marketing bumpf!
Our parent company has a successful working method for...
Hello chaps,
Weird irritating little issue...
My system runs far more stably with a borrowed license, as opposed to drawing one cross the network every time I need one (I run a laptop, so for me having the borrowed license is more practical too - if I have to go offshore etc. I always have a...
Hi Guys,
Our D.O. have a couple of questions with respect to some issues we are having drafting in Solid Edge (V20) and I thought some of you guys may be able to help...
1) When you use the symmetric diameter (or distance between etc.) the dimensions equally space themselves from each other...
Hi chaps,
Has anyone else noticed that some of the excel (2007) trigonometric functions are wrong!!
Specifically ASIN in this case - try ASin of 0.277047 radians on a calculator and the same in Excel and the results are different...
Any idea if an update exists to correct this?
Jon
Hi Guys,
In Solid Edge (V20) we often machine holes in the part or assembly and then pattern them around a central point.
When it comes to 2D-drawing (draft) of the components it is no problem to assign a Bolt Hole Circle to apply centrelines to this pattern.
What we are struggling with is...
Hi guys and gals,
Trying to find the coefficient of thermal expansion for ASTM A216 WCB and WCC and my usual source (MATWEB) for this data has let me down!
Can any of you good people point me in the right direction please?
Thanks in advance,
Jon
Hi folks,
I have a new laptop and all seemed well but when using Solid Edge I am getting random (every couple of days or so) blue screen of deaths and the computer reboots. Apparently it has to do a physical memory dump??
Any ideas as to what could be causing this?
A suggestion made here has...
Hi chaps (and chapesses),
I had to do some modelling whilst away from my office and although i managed to hijack a network license to take with me, I forgot about the (network stored) company templates. I now have the issue where I have used the normal UGS ones, as stored on my local drive, and...
Hi chaps (and chapesses!),
I am looking to buy some small pneumatic reservoirs, rated to at least 7 bar (100PSI).
The smallest I can find is 100ml (6.1 cubic inches), from Norgren, however I require a reservoir approximately 1/3rd the volume of that - 30cc (1.8 - 2.0 cubic inches).
Can...
Hi guys,
I work in the pneumatics industry and am looking for a reliable (and preferably free / free-to-trial) pneumatic pipe-flow calculator. Ideally it should be able to cope with both various pipe lengths and orifices etc.
Cheers
Jon
