    Export Contact Reaction Forces

Hi all, Is there a way to export contact forces to a text file? I can PRNSOL the nodal solution and multiply it by the area; but, it is off by an order of magnitude. I have 48 bolts and 10 load cases; so...it would be really nice. Any suggestiongs would be appreciated. Mark

NO PARAM values set in control file.

Hi all, I have inheritied a linear static patran 2004 database with lots of pins, beams, shells and solids and I am trying to run in Nastran 2004. The analyis fails with the "NO PARAM values were set in control file." Any idea what this might be from. Thanks Mark

    Interference Fit Modeling

Hi All, How do you model an interference fit in abaqus standard? I have a bushing pressed into a plate--pretty simple, tet 4 elements (once I get it running midnodes will be added). Contact surfaces have been created from the element faces, normals checked. Contact pairs created...

    Mid nodes

Hi all. I hava a very basic question about ANSYS 11.0. How do you tell if your elements have mid nodes? I did not do the model and it was meshed as a "hex dominant" mesh. I am comparing this model w/. I under stand that ANSYS plots results based on the "integration points of the elements"...

    Assembly Restructure

Hi all, Anyone have any ideas on why I am not able to restructure a model. ie., -normal assembly -hardware installed in assembly -subassembly added -trying to restructure hardware into new subassembly; but the "restructure" feature is greyed out. Thanks, Mark

How can I view the loads in these beams/nodes?

Hi All, I am new to ANSYS Classic FEA and have a simple question. If I have "scripted" in a few beams w/ beam releases etc, how can I view the loads in these beams/nodes? They are BEAM44 elements and I have keyopt (6) set to 1; ie., Printout member forces and moments in the element coordinate...

    Viewing Tet 10 Elements

I am starting to use Hyperview to present Nastran results which works great. HOWEVER, several of my models have Tet 10 elements and the mid nodes from these elements do not appear to be in the Hyperview model. Since it is just for viewing, this is probably ok; but if I query the results on the...

    Hyperview and Midnodes

I am starting to use Hyperview to present Nastran results which works great. HOWEVER, several of my models are have Tet 10 elements and the mid nodes from these elements are not showing up in Hyperview. In fact, if I query the results of the nodes that do come through, the the strain is 15 to...

Drawings Add Dimension vs Show Dimensions

Hi All, I have a customer who requests that all the dimensions be shown in the drawing and not added at the drawing level. Which is fine for most parts and it is nice for our customer to be able to change a part dimension from the drawing; however, often on castings or larger assembly...

Blending a Surface Between Multiple Sketches.

Hi All, In ProE, how do you "loft" a surface. "Loft", I think is a Solid works function in which a suface could be created from a family of curves. I am kind of familiar w/ "Blend"; but I could not figure out how to use mutiple sketchs. Ok, second question. Does the search function on this...

    Healing Surfaces

Hi all, I have a part with "rough" complex surfaces that I need to convert into a solid. The part is an import feature and many surfaces are not connected and are usually separated by a small sliver of a gap. If I try to import it as a solid, of course I get an error; however, the error...

    Minimum Assembly Cut Depth

Hi All, I have a fairly large road grader mainframe weldment (~200 parts) and I am seting it up for FEA. For doublers, our mesher needs a .5mm space between each plate and Pro E will not let me make a cut this small. It depends on which version of the model; but generally the lower limit is...

    Eroneous model reference in assembly

When my customer opens up an assembly drawing, he is missing a model. I open up the same assembly from a separate stand alone directory w/ no search paths and the assembly opens w/o any problems. I search in my directoy, and can not find the component that he was missing; ie., my assembly does...

    Search Path Ordered List

Hi all, I am about to test an ordered list of search paths on Wildfire 2.0. Has anyone had any experiences with an ordered search path working or not working. In other words I have a large assembly in which we are starting rev 3; ie., rev 3 of the truck is to redesign an assembly behind the...

    Drawing Table File

Hi All. Been reading through some of the posts looking for info on how to create a table file. ie., I need to create a generic "torque table" to insert into a several of our installation drawings and I would like to use Pro/Es "insert table/from file" feature. Any suggestions? Thanks Mark

Show X-hatching on a Complex Surface

I have another question for the proe gurus--love this forum. In a drawing, is it possible to show x-hatching on a complex surface. In other words, I am making a drawing for a fiberglas hood. For stiffness, some areas of this hood will have core matt installed. Rather then modeling this, if...

    Wildfire Drawing View Resize

Hi all, In Wildfire 2.0, how do you resize a drawing view? For some reason, I have a part that has an oversized drawing view box and with lots of views it is dificult to select the correct view. In 2001, I rember a quick drag a window resizing; but I can not seem to get it to work. Any...

    Skeletons in Top Down Design

Hi All, Been reading thru some of the posts on TD Design and have a few questions. Is there an advantage to ECGing component geometry into the skeleton and then ECGing the same geometry to the subassemby for component design. With a large top level assemby, I could see how this would be an...

Extract XYZ Point Coordinates for Analysis

Hi everyone! Is it possible to export XYZ coordinates from Pro/E into a data table? In other words, I have been doing a MathCAD analysis on a Pro/E 2001 skeleton (floating 4-bar linkage variant)by querying the Pro/E (2001) model and typing the XYZ coordinates into MathCAD. Of coarse this...

    Mechanically Operated Hydraulic Shut-Off Valve

I have a hydraulic/valve question--I hope this is the right forum. I need some sort of plunger operated hydraulic shut off valve. We are developing a rotary mower that attaches to a skid steer loader. Hydraulicly powered, the mower must shut down when it is raised/lowered +/-20 degrees with...
