We just wiped a journal bearing at our Turbo-Generator.
We bumped the rotor to verify speed indication on the panel but the machine stopped rapidly.
We decided to slow roll the machine to 500 RPM and monitor for noises, rubs etc... after 3 min. into slow roll at 500 RPM the Bearing RTD went of...
Last December our Refinery had a major failure on one of our turbine-generators. We want to make new coupling bolts and would like to know what material is best to use for coupling bolts. (material chemical composition)
Turbine and generator are solid coupled.
Can any one assist me on this...
What can happen to a multi stage pump when turning it out and check valve doesn't work? Will this destroy the pump, seize damaged?

The pump that is swinging is making a funny sound like going up and then down.
What is the best practice to stop this?

I have one question about starting or BUMP starting a pump.
We are discussing WHY THE IMPELLER AND CASING WEAR RING MELTED TOGETHER. OfFcourse we couldn't find out from operators. Before starting this VTB pump we checked if pump was rotating FREELY. Yes it was turning but a little bit stiff...
I'm a Reliabiilty Engineer and working now in the refinery for 6 months. My question is how do Refineries calculate MTBF on their pumps? Do we need to count all installed pumps in equation or only Running pumps? For example in a Turnaround should I still count the pumps that are down in that...
