We have some SS 316 pipelines from 2 to 12" nominal size. The pressure is 0-5 psig and temperature is -45 degree F.
While assessing the NDT reports for these pipelines it came to light that all these lines are sch.5 and sch.10. ( 1 to 3 mm thick).
Even though the thickness is ok for pressure...
When accessing REGEDIT I get a message "REGISTRY EDITOR HAS BEEN DISABLED BY YOUR ADMINISTRATOR". The funny thing is that I log on as Administartor and has never blocked this. Can any body help wht is the way out with out formating and reloading?
Thanks
There is an old valve body lying in the scrap yard. Body marking indicates 125 24" WSP. It appears from "125" that it is #125 CI body. But is there any other way to confirm the body mterial as CI or CS. We do not have any material spectoscope or any thing fancy. This body can be cut if required...
There are two pumps for lifting sea water for cooling purpose. ( One running + one standby ). Recently we have replaced the pump shaft for for Sea Water service from SS to K-Monal. The new shaft indicated signs of light pitting when pump was kept idle for about 8 months in the water. Is this ok...
Are there any issues for using spiral seam pipe instead of longitudnal seam pipe for cooling water service at normal temperature and 60 psig pressure.
Thanks
A refrigerated Butane storage tank is fabricated as per API 620.
Now repair is required to replace the some of the shell portions. Is API 653 correct standard to follow the repair procedure? API 653 states that it is for tanks fabricated to API 650.
If API 653 is not correct standard then...
We have to replace 125# FF ductile iron / C.I. valves ( material - A536 65-45-12 & A126 GrB / A126 Gr B ) with the existing 150# RF valves. The flange on the water filter where the valve is installed is #150 RF. There is spacer installed at present between the valve and the vessel flange.
Is it...
We are modifying our work shop and all the structural members are planned to be replaced. The existing columns are tapered "I" section.
- Could some one suggest if it is OK to fabricate the tapered "I" section columns of about 7 - 8 meter length at site by A-36 plates of the required thickness...

I was calculating the safe thickness of a closed dome ended cylindrical tank subjected to vacuum of 20 inches Mercury and normal atmospheric pressure outside. The length between lines of support is 6000 mm and the vessel dia is 60". Material is SA516 Gr-60. The thickness of the shell is about 10...

We are replacing some isolation valve on the sea water cooling pipe lines size ranging 6" to 36". Due to some mix-up, the valves which are ordered as replacement are of 125 class Flat Face, where as existing valves and flanges are of 150 class Raised Face. We do not want to cut and replace the...
We have a 126 meters tall single pole tower held by guy ropes. Three GSM antennas are to be installed at height of 35 meters.
Could some one please guide how to check suitability of new installation for this tower.
Thanks
Please help me understand the chemistry / Process involved in biological growth removal by injection of Chlorine or Hypochlorite injection in the sea water system for cooling requirement in the plant.
Thanks
I have started working on PRO - II recently. While making a simulation for water pumping system I came across an error as under:
"Liquid viscosity, vapor viscosity, and surface tension methods are required by the pipe unit. Ensure that methods are declared for them in the thermodynamic method...
Recently we hydrotested a high pressure vessel ( design pressure 125 Kg/cm2 ). The vesel is fabricated as per code ASME -VIII. Before hydrotesting the threaded bolts were removed from the Tell-tale holes of all the nozzles. At 140 Kg/cm2 water droops were observed from the Tell-tale holes of two...
Please help me decide the thickness of weld for lifting a 11.0 MT load whith the help of a MS plate. The welding length avaiable on the half inch plate is 12 inches only.

Will some body please help in calculating the temerature of the natural gas of known composition when flashed from a known pressure and temperature to a lower pressure.
There are condensable hydrocarbon fractions in the gas that will condense as the pressure is reduced.

We are palnning to lift a 25 MT load by crane. Two 6 mts. slings will be utilized. About 3.5 mts. from load a spreader bar is required to be placed between two slings so as to protect the delicate portion of the load.
It seems the spreader bar will be under compresson and can be designed as...
