    Toko Coil part numbers

Does anyone know the rhyme or reason behind Toko part numbers? I've got some that I bought, so I know what they are, but the numbers on them don't seem to correspond to the parts catalogue... For instance, I have 90D0-162-002-86023, which I didn't buy. How do I figure out what that is? I've...

Books I've recently Acquired Mark II

Strange Angel: The Otherworldly Life of Rocket Scientist John Whiteside Parsons (Hardcover) by George Pendle. Excellent. A truly odd chap, in at the beginning of rocketry.

    Lead free Die attach

With the demand for leadfree products, how has die attach been affected, particularly in the higher power devices? Are the revised methods likely to suffer from premature failure at low temperature?

    Tin Pest

In the solitary article of any interest in Electronics World this month, there's a mention of tin pest... Which is rather pertinent considering that lead free solder is up to 99% pure tin... For the uninitiated (like me), tin pest is a property of tin that is brought on by low temperatures...

    Inverse operation of vacuum tubes

In Fred Terman's book on Radio Engineering, there's a section on the inverse operation of vacuum tubes. This means that you use the grid as the anode and the anode as the grid... Weird. I've never seen it referred to anywhere else. Has anyone ever encountered this peculiar design technique...

    Invisible power pins in CAD

Hi guys. Another tedious CAD question. A number of packages I've used, Orcad, Cadstar, Vutrax etc. have invisible power pins on stuff like ttl and amplifiers. The ttl stuff generally has pins defined as Vcc and Gnd. The analogue stuff has pins defined as Vpos, Vngeg, and Gnd. 4000 series...

    CadStar pcb software

Hi guys, I'm having a problem with the antique version of CadStar (2.4.1) that my institution uses for student instruction. Specifically, I can't get the apertures to appear at the centre of the pads when I print out the pcb design. This makes it a bit tricky to drill since the drill has a...

    sanken smaz 1001 ic

Anyone know where I can get a pdf of this sanken chip? It's found in a switch mode power supply. I've tried googling like crazy with all the options such as smaz1001 sma z1001 smaz 1001 sma-z1001 smaz-1001 and the closest I've got so far is a site in chinese with a pdf symbol that takes...

    Compaq NT4

Hi, I bought a copy of NT4 off ebay. It transpires that it is the Compaq version. It has no setup file on the CD, but appears to require the Compaq Restore CD. Anyone know of a way around this or should I just throw it in the bin? (It only cost $6, so I'm not out much...)
