We have a problem understanding the functional hysteresis in the device shown in the image. The force applied the lower link in the picture is from a spring pack capable of producing 9 to 45 lbs load. The attached graph shows the upward movement of the device's handle requires more force than...
We are designing fixtures for ESS and qualification testing. We keep hitting a wall with management over the design. The engineers say "build a cube, and bolt directly to the test shaker." How common is a cube structure in vibration testing? Why not bolt directly to the shaker table?
We have some old drawings and we want to "recycle" for a new project. I have drawing views captured and saved as PNG, TIFF, JPEG, and BMP formats. The images have been clean up of old leaders, balloons, and artifacts.
I want to lay the images in a new drawing and add SW custom balloons. I...
I have a steel external spline. The new retrofit housing that fits on the spline will be aluminum 7050-T6 condition with hard anodize coating. The assembly is turned by an human, not a motor. There is no sliding on the spline. Stresses look OK but....
?Will this steel/aluminum interface wear...
We picked up the SAE AMS 2700 specification here. I am wondering how to know which of the 8 types of passivation do I pick for a given grade of stainless?

Anyone seen this? Link a DOC file in a drawing's Design journal and get a 30 byte jump in file size. Link a PDF file and get a 1.4 MEG jump in files size. In both cases I used "Save As" and save the file under different names.
What's goin' on? I didn't embed the file, only link it.

Is anyone using the e-Drawing Professional? The $995 price tag was too much for us to justify only a markup tool and measurement.
We are excited by Adobe Acrobat Professional at $280 a seat. Is anyone using Acrobat for design review and ECP's? The price and features look much better than...
We have a cylinder made of a hard rubber compound. We will be twisting it on the OD of the cylinder wall while the ID of the cylinder is fixed. How do I apply a uniform twisting force on the surface of the cylinder? I can section it and apply force at intervels along the surface OD. Is there a...
Our FEA design engineer left for another company. We found our license allowed us to use a network license with Algor. We are looking for advice on training material and help bringing us up to speed with Algor. Any suggestions?
Any body experience this: Line thickness on drawing templates formats look correct on screen but on printout get extremely thick? [hairpull2]
The drwdot file is a SW2004 file that works fine under SW2004. I have the trouble in SW2005. I did save the drwdot file with SW2005 but the problem...
Finally we can do configuration based tolerances. [love2]
Can we control the percision of the tolerances with configurations? The tolerances of my part change from 4 place to 3 place percision as the size of the part increases.
Here's an example of a tedious task I would like to automate.
We place assembly processes and procedure information in the drawing notes. We refer to the item in the note field by its BOM item number (e.g. "TORQUE ITEM 6 TO 50 FT-LB"). Is there a way to link the item in the note reference to...
I'm sure this has been discussed before....
1. You're provided a complex logo from your customer.
2. Logo must be dimension on drawing to show basic dimensions, location, letter height, and orientation.
How do you added dimesions to a graphic in drawings? This logo is too complicated to...
Is it possible to create a configuration table that tracks the cosmetic thread callout for each instance of the thread in that configuration?
Similarly, is it possible to have the "Description:" under "Configuration Properties" populated from the design table? (Do not confuse this description...
Has anyone lost their ability to create splines with SW2003 SP 5.0? I can still create a spline on drawings but cannot in a part file. This is with 2D and 3D sketches. The tool will put down the spline points but no interconneting line between the points.
