Hi, I'm a vibration amateur, so hopefully someone can advise. The problem was high vibes at 14X running speed on a recently overhauled centrifugal pump. Vibes were at the drive end, which is fitted with a slot filled double row angular contact bearing.
The pump runs at 3000rpm
Vibes were at 14X...
Our operators are requesting guidance on acceptable mechanical seal leakage rates (I know this seems a contradiction in terms!)Typically interested in API hydrocarbon pumps. I am aware that this has implications with COMAH DSEAR and environmental considerations etc. But one mans drip is another...
Hi, anyone got average industry standards for pump MTBF for API refinery pumps, with source or reference. Need to know how well we are doing!!
best regards
John
I have a Hayward Tyler 2 stage end suction overhung centrifugal pump suffering from mechanical seal and thrust bearing problems. The outboard end of the shaft is supported in a steady bush inside the pump case (similar to a wear ring)operating speed is 2950rpm. Can the stiffness of the shaft of...
Anyone know of a method of calculating the Minimum Continuous Stable Flow of an end suction centrifugal pump? A rule-of-thumb or similar would be of help. Not able to find out as the manufacturer Rhodes-Brydon-Yuatt is long since defunct, and the pump manufactured in the 1960's
I am aware that a minimum film thickness for a product such as water would be 1 micron, but what about a maximum film thickness bearing in mind solids of between 50-80 micron present in the product.
I carry out in-house pump repairs and modifications in a hazardous zoned area, I currently have responsibility for over 1000 pumps.Does anyone have any guidance as to when any pump repair breaks any ATEX certification. Can you only use manufacturers parts for repairs? Reading the ATEX regs, and...
I have dozens of in-line relief valves fitted with external springs, these are fitted as Mono pump protection devices. Some of these have been installed for years, they are not on a maintenance program but are refurbished as the pumps fail. My concern is that a sizeable number of these valves...
What are the advantages of an ethylene glycol/water mix over straight water as a buffer fluid. Presumably low freezing point and anti-corrosion properties are a plus point, but what about lubricity, viscosity and heat conduction?
