A biomas fuel for firing a boiler has 0.01% Cl. Will this cause a problem with corrosion, especially if austenitic stainless steel is used for superheater tubes? Please provide any published data in this regard.
We recently received WP91 fittings which exhibited stress corrosion cracking. Hardness ranged from 270 to over 400 BHN (at SCC initiation site). SCC resulted in failure on preliminary hydro. I do not have identity of fitting manufacturer. Just to let all users know - the problems with P91...

A Condenser manufacturer has delivered Titanium tube bundles that exhibit gross rust staining on the Ti tubesheets, some due to damage and weld spatter most due to rust bleed from iron contaminants left in the tubes. The manufacturer contends that the Fe contamination need not be removed from...
A cooling tower manufacturer has proposed using silicon bronze bolting and trim in cooling water service containing 16,000 ppm chloride, 1 ppm H2S and 3 ppm ammonia at approximately 80F. Pressure from atmospheric to 60 psi. Does this selection appear feasible?
While SCC of welds in type 304/304L pipe under hot insulation and in welds in LNG loading/unloading arms are well documented, have there been any documented SCC failures in the circumferential welds of LNG transfer pipe?
What are the recommended corrosion preventive methods for 9% Nickel steel LNG tanks during filling for and during hydrotest with an anticipated maximum exposure time of 60 days? Is 9% Nickel Steel highly susceptible to MIC?
