Joint yield load is defined as the load at 0.04D offset on the load deflection curve from a joint test.
Does anyone know where the 0.04D assumption came from?
Is there a rationale?
Thanks
It is my understanding that UNC external threads do not have a specific root radius. Without knowing the radius how would one estimate the elastic stress concentration factor?
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Has anyone ever taken a tensile test specimen (ASTM E8) from a broken fracture specimen (ASTM E1820). It appears that some of the small specimens could be taken from a broken half of a CT specimen.
Is there any reason why you could not do such a thing.

Jq from ASTM 1820, Relation to Elastic Modulus
I have a set of fracture toughness test data from a vendor.
The initial submittal used an inappropriate (too high) elastic modulus.
The data was resubmitted after being evaluated using a lower modulus.
Both Jq and Kjq decreased with the lower...
SENER - Elastic strain energy density, per unit volume.
The SENER results provided for a standard cross-section are very different from those for a general beam section using properties of the same cross-section.
This is the answer that I received from ABAQUS.
