    water carry over

I am checking the calculations for a pipeline slug catcher and found that the exit riser piping is way too small which will allow the exit gas stream to entrain liquid droplets and carry them over to a filter-separator. Is there a method to estimate the quantity of liquids that would be carried...

    Which Fortran?

Last Fortran program I had was Microsoft Power Station Fortran V1.0 which Microsoft dumped. When the program began to give me fits on the network version of Windows 98 I threw in the towel. I would like to once again use some of the programs that I previously wrote so I need to buy a new...

    quantity of sandblast abrasive

How much abrasive in lb/square foot should I order to sandblast steel pipe in the field to SP 10 (near white) for an epoxy paint system. Sandblasting of pipe spools will take place in a tent at the edge of the work level before erection. I understand that a 20% allowance should be included for...

    Wall vapor barrier

I am building a new house. The first floor has a brick veneer and the second floor has a wood panel type exterior. My question regards the vapor barrier. On the first floor the insulation contractor installed a insulation without a backing and a visqueen (spelling?) vapor barrier. On the...

    Derating a gas turbine HP

Can anyone direct me to methods to derate the std HP ratings of a gas turbine for altitude, ambient temperature and inlet/exhaust air pressure losses? The purpose is to get reasonabily close prior to going out for bids for hydraulic, feasibility, etc. studies.

Urethane Top Coat on CS Surfaces

I am working on standardizing some paint specs and wonder about the advisibility of a urethane top coat. A local paint vendor states that it is not economically feasible as the urethane coat wears off after a few years and serves only to hold the paint color through the first years. The...

    Natural Gas PL Compressors

I seem to remember a INGAA study discussing the various characteristics, etc. of different types of drivers for natural gas compresors dated circa 1999-2002 but cannot find it. Anyone remember this study or report?

    Gas Separator Liquid Dump Orifice

It is common practice to use a flow limiting orifice downstream of the level control valve on gas separators. The purpose is to limit the gas flow rate in the event that the level control valve sticks open and blows gas. What is the rational for sizing this orifice as far as flow rate.

    Insulating Flange Gaskets Assembly

We have just purchased insulating type flange gaskets and are concerned with over tightening the bolts. On a past project with this same client two sets of gaskets were damaged using the bolt torques listed in the client's specifications for the applicable lubricant which we do not want to...

    Flange Bolt Tightening

Is AGA Operating Section Engineering Technical Note CPR-83-4-1 "Threaded Fastners Torquing" still published? Is it still valid or has it been replaced by something else? Cannot find it on the AGA web page but then I am not an AGA member so my search ability is limited.

    Control Panel Cooler

I am looking for a small air conditioning unit for an engine (unit) control panel located adjacent to a natural gas compressor unit. In short, the control panels initially installed in the 1970s have been replaced with new panels which now contain control computers that are experiencing...

    Building Load Combinations

I work in the oil and gas area and need to upgrade our specs for pre-engineered metal buildings used for compressor buildings, meter buildings, etc. If we specify IBC instead of UBC does this code specify the load combinations for design? Or do we need to reference the metal building specs for...

    Gaskets

What is the current industry practice for gasket type for engine jacket water, aux water and non-potable water services. Seems we have gotton into the habit of using spiral wound gaskets for everything which may not be the best choice or just an unnecessary expense for these services.
