I often draw parts that have bolt patterns of equal diameter holes. So, I've been drawing one circle, locating it, then using the Linear Sketch Step and Repeat to lay out the rest. Works well for the sketch. However, I always have to manually enter in the "4X" or whatever notation to...
Does anybody know if the old Army-Navy (AN) standards are in print for reference? I am trying to find information on AN900 and AN901, which deal with crush washer seals. On a side note, if anybody knows of alternative sources of information on this subject (we need dimensional and surface finish...
Does anybody know of a documented standard, SAE or otherwise, for proper crush washer seals. Information I'm interested in is the dimensions and surface finish requirements for the ports and fittings, as well as standard sizes for the crush washers.
The only mention I've found of ANY standard...
Hello to all.
I have recently become intrigued by this new technology, and would to gather some more information. Don't worry Greg, I have already made google my friend on this matter, and have found a few interesting sites. The questions/suggestions I have/need so far are:
1. A...
I have what I thought would be a basic problem, but have as yet found no information.
All I want to do is plug a hole
On one of our parts, we must make multiple bores to acheive the internal geometry that we want. Some of these bores must then be plugged to prevent air leaks, fuel leaks, etc...
Hi,
I'm a recent college grad working at a new job, and one of the projects I am working on involves a number anti-corrosive (I assume) coatings. For example, we have part that is cast Al that is to be "zinc plate with yellow chromate conversion".
I have 2 questions
First, I...
I made mention of this in my other thread, but since it was off topic I'm starting a new one
I've noticed that Solidworks has more than a few different points within a drawing where you can enter a "part number". One is custom properties, one is configuration specific properties. You...
I've gotten to the point where I am dealing with the assorted fasteners currently used in our products. Some, it looks like the previous drafter drew from scratch. Some are from the toolbox. I am not too familiar with the different capabilities built into the toolbox. I am trying to clean up all...
I am currently designing a throttle body for aftermarket EFI systems. Before, all our parts were sand cast A356. Now, we are talking about a move to die cast. I realize that a lot of changes will need to be made, but I have a more fundamental question: which alloy should I use?
I did a search...
As most of you know from other threads, I am going through a file restructuring.
We have solid models of some of our supplier's parts which are assembled with ours.
The suppliers have their own part numbers. It is a hyphenated number. We may or may not use hyphenated numbers, but that's not...
I need help understanding some information in this fuel fitting specification.
In figure 2, they sometimes list two possible dimensions. One is for those that are "PA coated". The other option does not have a note. What is "PA coated"?
In figure 2 of SAE J2044 for quick connect fittings, it shows different values if the fitting is "PA coated". What is PA coating? I don't recognize the abbreviation. THanks
Andy
Sometimes, if I have a dimension that is a round number (23mm, for example), the dimension in the drawing shows only "23", not "23.00" or whatever my desired precision is. Any idea why this is happening, or how to fix it?
I just made a drawing of a rather large assembly, and the BOM stretches into my Rev block! How do I resize it? Do I really have to modify the row height in excel to shrink it down, or is there a better way?
A project I am working on:
A polished piece of metal is to be pressed against another piece of polished metal. The second piece (the seat) is actually a cylinder, and fluid passes through the cylinder. Fluid pressure, if too high, lifts the first piece off the seat and fluid exits through the...
I've been wanting to put an electronic overdrive transmission (such as a 4l60e, 4l80e, E4OD, or AOD-E)in my car for a while, but I really don't want to pay $1000 for a stand-alone controller. So, I figure, why not make one? Since the company I work for currently designs and makes ECU's for fuel...
I need to call out external pipe threads on a part I am drawing. 1/4" NPT. I've never had to look it up before, so I don't know what the boss outer diameter should be. Does Solidworks have this info? Do any of you? Once I get the boss to the right dia, I was just gonna do cosmetic threads...
Hi,
I'm part of a startup company, and we're having some questions concerning the management of our drawings.
I have some experience with Solidworks during through college (I'm a recent grad) but am not an expert. So, I can make pretty nice models, but I've never had to do much...
We are putting together a fuel system, and have a question about fuel pressure regulators. We have found that you can achieve the desired average fuel pressure with a number of different spring/installed height combos, which makes perfect sense. However, the fuel pressure stability is affected...
