1. The standard ABM seems to be the ABM coming toward the incoming missile at a high velocity (vector) difference.
Another option
2. Upon detection of missile, an ABM is launched and controlled via thrust to FOLLOW the missile and catch up to it. Eventually with no velocity difference the...
I want to build a gyro from a motorcycle wheel - maybe about 30lbs including motor to maintain gyro rpm.
Does anyone have any examples of similar size/capability?
Thanks.
Winnipeg Canada has had a super cold winter (2013-2014) with frost depth now at 7-8 ft. The street domestic water supply pipes are being plugged with ice.
City workers are defrosting the pipes by electric (welder?) resistance heating which takes 20 min > hours? each time - there are 1000 houses...
If the torque output of the differential output shafts is always the same - then if one shaft is locked in a simple scale/lever device (to measure the shafts torque at zero rpm) and the other shaft is connected to a load and allowed to rotate - then the torques will be the same.
Also -by...
Dr. Frame is/was an easy to learn graphic driven structural engineering program.
I cannot find its site anymore on the Internet.
Anybody know anything about its current status?
1/ Consider - a ball bearing hitting a flat surface - it will bounce off at the angle of incidence similar to a light bean on a mirror.
2/ On a molcular scale there is no flat solid surface (because of surface roughness) so an individual atom will hit a many angled rough surface and can bounce...
Like to find (on Internet ?) formulias for the effects of compression on two epoxied together materials of different "E" and cross sectional areas. Any ideas? Thanks.
I want to epoxy bond a thin (maybe 1/8 inch ?) layer of steel to a piece of 3/4 inch plywood
to increase the stiffness of a "column" in compression.
The plywood is 3/4 x 1 inch in cross section.
I have not found any applicable equations with Google searches.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Can anyone compare Detroit RWD V6/V8 (250-300hp) engines using a Carb (usually - older pre 1985) vs EFI(post 2000) on a HP per pound comparison ? Any thoughts on the power/weight for the complete drivetrain?
Suzuki seem to have deliberately put an "crimp" in the bikes left exhaust pipe. As there is a "cross pipe" there will be more flow through the right exhaust than through the left.
What is the reasoning for this?
Thanks
Some vehicle engines now(2012) require four computers to operate properly. A custom wiring harness is $$$$.
How far back in time does one have to go to find an engine that can be made to operate "stand alone" for low dollars.
Require 150+ HP ( V6 ?).
Thanks.
Anyone aware of these?
Two types found by Googling
"differential belt"
What if there was no space limitation so a loooong "bicycle" chain could be "twisted" 90 degrees if required?
When a narrow beam of sunlight come through the window of a dark room, dust particles can be seen "floating" in the air.
Is there any way of doing this artifically?
To light a building interior efficiently highly reflective walls are desired. I believe that newly painted white walls are only about 80% reflective to visible light - but this decreases as "dirt" accumulates on the surface.
What information is available on increasing the light level in a...
Generally:
1/ Aircraft have center of mass in front of center of drag for stability . . .
2/ Boats have engines in rear thus center of mass is behind center of drag
but not in this boat ? ?

Comments please.
This seems to be uncommon knowledge – little on the Internet.
Sprint cars and dragsters have similar situations.
A simple clutch between the flywheel and differential would be nice but not necessary.
Much Googling has got this in-out box with clutch (maybe not available anymore --history?)...
Say someone says there are 95 black marbles and 5 white marbles in a paper bag.
When you put your hand the bag for a sample you remove 1 black marble and 4 white marbles.
You can then - with very high probability call the person a liar.
There is a name for this phenomena – I think the person it...
