We have been trying to learn MBD and Inspection software.
SolidWorks MBD, Verisurf Inspection, Keyence scanner.
So far my experience is creating MBD in SolidWorks, no issues.
But, opening these files (either SolidWorks or STEP 242) the MBD data imports larger and jumbled.

I recently purchased some prefinished 3/4" plywood to make cabinets.
On some cuts I noticed what looks like strands of fiberglass sticking out?
Is this something new manufacture's are doing?

My last company, and current, have argued with me about using GD&T.
Engineers, purchasing, and managers have argued that it makes the parts more $$.
I tell them no it doesn't.
Last company had parts machined in China, current in Thailand and in USA.
China and Thailand have said not to use it...
Anyone have a macro that will delete unused layers on a drawing? I'm not into writing macros, but this one would be useful.

I have AMS-STD-595.
But, I thought I saw a spec years ago that indicated which colors should with which, color combinations.
I'm curious is there a spec for this?
An example is we had someone anodize a part dark blue. They ink'd the part info in black. Difficult to read.

I started this job early this year. They have most parts machined with a note on the drawing "All dimensions are after plating". Majority of plating is nom .0005.
If I were machining the parts, I use CAM and deduct this amount.

Anyone know where I can find if the year is to be called out of specs on dwgs.
ie: ASME-Y14.5M-2009

I'm curious how others here manage CAM data with models in PDM. Do you give the machinist access to PDM models to check out and save CAM data back to PDM? How do you manage rev's? I can set this process, but I'm curious how others do it. Thanks.

I find the new feature to rename a file within the feature tree of an assy pretty handy.
It's quicker than using SW Explorer, IMO.

We are not on EPDM, yet.
I want to block certain users from checking out drawings. I want them to only have the parts/assy's.
This way we can control who has rights to update drawings.
Anyone here have an idea how to do this?
