    RHS support strength

any suggestion or previous threads (calcs, I mean) on RHS used as supports il truck loading ?

drawing a curve and find the formula

Is there any possibility to draw a line by points and find a polynomial (??) formula that can reproduce the original line so that to search for intermediate coordinates ?

    new calc software

looks like interesting (free and similar to Smath) https://calcpad.eu

    inox metal

an inox steel tank (AISI 304), after firing, has changed his color (now is brown). Query in general : inox steel is changing its properties after temperature raising ? Thk

    hollow section buckling

as far as you know are there any simplified formulas to calculate buckling of square hollow section due to vertical load applied through the I-beam as sketched (the hollow section is resting on flat plane)

    overhung load under seismic

under seismic conditions, how can we calculate loads on structure caused by an overhung weight (i.e. load lifted by a crane) ? We assume the crane fixed with the structure so that the suspension point of the lifted load is moving because of seism, adding load to the structure

Galvanized steel pole protection from rust

In Italy we have a lot of steel poles (hot galvanized) used for tele-transmissions. Many of them have been built few years ago and now they need to be reinforced/stiffened due to more severe loads (fig 1). We would like to use stiffening steel structures connected to the original pole...

    rebar welding

if there is the possibility to weld 2 rebars of different diameters (with an overlap), is there any rule/spec/standard that states the max difference between the 2 diameters ?

    load and overload

this to show how it is possible to find any center of gravity without any CAD https://mega.nz/file/Md9UyLrQ#2ixiGf-D9SbYfcvSTte9yF2u3mIae8QHlW6JDWEB8GQ

    expansion coeff for concrete

concrete has a coeff of expansion because of temperature. Said coeff is constant or variable according to increasing temperature ? is there any reference ? Thks

    concrete upsetting

for steel strut is clear : check has to be done for "upsetting" (blue arrow - hoping the term "upsetting" is correct. my question : does it exist a similar check for concrete ?

    mass concrete

production of mass concrete : other than the temperature control there are specs regarding theoretical coeffs to be considered for shrinkage control while designing ? and which the correct wording for them ? Thks

a bit off-topic but fascinating, and not sure whether nothing to do with engineering https://www.youtube.com/c/flippedprof/videos

    concrete truss-girder

is there any commercial doc (i.e. tech tables) regarding precast/prestressed concrete truss-girder for roof applications ? And, if possible, a Standard ref. In Italy we don't produce such a struct. Thanks

    lens-like beam

1 - what is the correct term for this type of beam (lens-like beam is direct translation of italian term)? 2 - any special design rules/standards or just structural beam design ? Thanks

    friction coeff

any info on friction coeff between zinc coated steel profile on zinc coated steel profile ? Thks

bending torsion instability of steel pipe

Eurocode says that a steel pipe item (part of a structure) is not affected by a bending+torsion instability (i.e. when the torsion stiffness is bigger than the bending stiffness ??). I am looking of literature discussing and explaining such a statement. Thanks

    brace

speaking in general, in a brand new construction with braces, are these placed with a min specified tension or otherwise ? If in tension please let me know the ref standard. Thanks

    tension strength for concrete

as far as You know, there is any literature about relation between tensile (not compressive) strength of concrete directly found in lab (with proper specimen) and the tensile strength indirectly found in lab with the cylinder specimen (brazilian test) ? Usually the standard provides a formula...
