    Modulus OfSoil Reaction(E')

there is a formula given in the book "Buried Piping Design" but it needs the modulus of soil reaction, so i want to know if there is formula that relates "subgrade reaction" to modulus of reaction.

    Modulus OfSoil Reaction(E')

Is the a way to calculate the Modulus Of Soil Reaction(E') base modulus of subgrade reaction. Please Help! We are checking the ring deflection of an existing buried water pipe(20" dia.) and based on the formula we need the Modulus Of Soil Reaction(E') but the soil test report provided the...

    ALLOWABLE WELD STRENGTH

How does GTSTRUDL calculate the allowable weld strenght? Does it consider the the allowable of the base metal? We are designing Pipe Support using GTSTRUDL but in the weld analysis it always give the weld allowable as 0.3x72ksi=21.6 whcich is the allowable (E70XX) electrode. Thanks, Ellie

    Eccentricity

What is GT STRUDL recommendation for modeling a joint from Tubesteel center to it outer surface.Would be just another tubesteel or a ridid element which you cam model by specifiying eccentricity. From piping it is usually recommended to model the node from center of pipe to its outer surface as...

6" Dummy Leg Support on 12 " pipe

Why not change it to 10"Dummy..It is a common practice to use a one size smaller for a dummy support. The recommended size for a 12""run pipe is 8"dummy...and you could even go to a full size but it is better to put a pad.

Stress in Pipe due to Shear Lug/Plate

Ed, Right now I am working on a nuclear project in Taiwan and we analyzed all rectangular or circular attachments on piping and here are the Nuclear Code Cases(ASME SEC III Div. 1) that we used. N-122-2 Procedure for Evaluation of the Design of Rectangular Cross Section Attachmnents on Class 1...
