    How does rubber cure physically?

Adding to Tom1953's message: when you are looking for the o-rings being molded (large o-ring, small o-ring / same cross section), you definitly need to consider the heat transfer and masses. If the press plate is the same, let's sayd 20x20inches, you probably can fit just one o-ring of 18...

    hydrophilic material

Hello, you supplier may be correct. I have seen exactly swelling rubber with the same product. Have you checked the hardness or cure? It may be too tough for having the desired swell. Sponge form would work better... RubberDog

Fillers to get a final sg of about 5?

And it does need to be silicone? For what reason? Just wondering due, as mentioned before, the physical properties... If could be in other polymers, it would accept more fillers. Daniel Cortarelli Polymer Materials'Engineer

Fillers to get a final sg of about 5?

Magnesium oxide has specific gravity lower... ~ 3.6g/cm^3. Zinc Oxide seens to be the least expensive... ~5.8g/cm^3. Lead is much higher, but I would not use due the safety, toxicology, etc. You may also try ferrite.. But even, with so high level of fillers, I don't believe the mechanical...

Tying to identigy a chloroprene ( neoprene ) family member

Hello Magnasanti, I was meant to reply before, but had some urgencies. Why are you thinking about Chloropene and these grades? The photos you sent are little difficult to see, but for me appears more to be a foam, than actually a sponge. The density will be related not just to the material...

Optimum mold finish for compression molded Viton parts...

By the experience with all the elastomers in seals, the most common is chroming. Not for the release, but for the finishing. Attention that you need to redo it from time to time. The GF is a peroxide grade FKM, which is already little difficult to demold. The best is if you can work on the...

    window seal epdm hardness

I would even go a little lower, about 60 Shore A. This ways you don't force too much the counter parts. But the above also should work. Don't see too much difficult here.

    HNBR vs Peroxide Cured Nitrile

The NBR still have a lot of insaturation (double bonds), on the main polymer chain. So still passive of being attacked by the oxygen present on the carbonic acid, or any other oxidant. Peroxide cured NBR only increases the temperature limit, as the bond C-C have much more energy than C-S or S-S...

Without ts2 on the Rheo test

Hello, sorry I saw the question only now. In what equipment (brand and model) you are testing? Are you manually calculating the Ts1 and Ts2 or the software is giving this? In the Alpha (previously Monsanto) ODR and MDR, when equiped with a colection system, it will always have the data points...

How to identify that is really corrosion

Hello, we have in our line some metal parts, that are produced overseas. We use VCI and protective layers, but sometimes we still having corrosion (Iron Parts). The problem is we apply an adhesive that was a rust color... So, sometime is hard to identify if what we see is really adhesive or...
