    NX Nastran 8.5 Release Guide

Does anyone have the NX Nastran 8.5 Release Guide? I have only been able to find NX 3-8.1 RGs: http://mscnastrannovice.blogspot.com/2013/06/femap-and-nx-nastran-documentation.html

    Why do you like Femap?

Trainguy, my friend forwarded this to me. You might like video #2: http://www.mscsoftware.com/50years/?video Who went to the conference? We need to be enlightened about this.

    Non Linear Contact NX Nastran

thecadguy, I saw in your post history made in the Marc forum. Why not use SOL 600 in MD Nastran for this? It's easier.

Tutorial : Simulation of Mine Explosion Under Vehicle

It sounds like a SOL 700 problem. Given the complexity of your problem, I think an expert may be required: http://www.mscsoftware.com/page/expert-demand

    Load Path Analysis

In the results tab, there is a "Vector" option. I think this might be what you need. This tutorial shows how to use the "Tensor" option, but it is similar to how you would use the "Vector" option: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=YTuoIZGZAnI#t=631s

    Tutorial Composite Modeling in Simxpert

    1) Look for a file named "prob002.bdf" in your MSC Nastran installation directory. 2) Import this file into SimXpert. This imports a composites model. 3) Run the analysis and import your results. Follow this example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=0aXMVnr3pbQ#t=150s 4)...

    fatigue analysis

MSC Nastran cannot do fatigue analysis at this point. You need MSC Fatigue to perform fatigue analysis.

Patran Skin GUI vs Classic GUI

The new gui is only available in Patran 2010 and on. Look at the Patran shortcut, right click>properties. You will notice an additional -skin for the new GUI. New GUI: C:\MSC.Software\Patran_x64\20122\bin\patran.exe -skin OLD GUI: C:\MSC.Software\Patran_x64\20122\bin\patran.exe

    Sol 600 vs 106 vs 400

Is Sol 600 only for large strain solutions? No, I'm fairly certain there is a large displacement or large strain setting you can turn off in Patran. Yes, stay away from SOL106. Use SOL 600 or 400. The speed of a solution is problem dependent. I remember a tip in one of the nastran manuals...

    Equivalent Plastic Strain MSC Nastran

Your research is in the right direction. The .bdf or .dat file should have PARAM,MARCOUT,E27 to output EPS, per the information in the documentation. Look at my example: http://i.imgur.com/CRmdUkr.png . In my example, I would manually type: param,marcout,e321,e341,e27. Field 1 is PARAM, Field...
