Uptickk, you are doing a typical mistake of a novice in automation: you imagine more or less clear the normal operation of a system, but do not think of malfunctions.
Here is an example: what if the sensor signal disappears instantaneously when the pouring is in process?
If all the logic...
S:1/15 is "First Pass", that is first scan pulse.
This is a system read-only bit active only in the first scan after power up or switching from programming to run.
The B3:0/1 in the shown code is "not first scan pulse", that is "the second scan".
If the B3:0/2 is being set by "the second scan"...
There is no -24V in your system.
All voltages must be positive relative to the 0V.
Active PNP output connects the load to the power source voltage (+24V) and is called sourcing.
Active NPN output connects the load to 0V and is called sinking.
Both are subject to voltage drop on the output...
Need to communicate on RS-232 between Motoman NX100 and PLC in order to send to robot job# and some other variables, and to receive readback, error codes, etc.
Where can I find the protocol basic description?
Yes, I know it may be a proprietary protocol. Still somebody may have the information...
Sdl, thank you for detailed answer.
As I said, we produce packaging equiment (cartoners).
The circuits mentioned do not compromise the safety functions.
My main concern was whether this may be considered "tampering" with the safety relay, which is directly forbidden in the relay manual.
Let's respect each other, guys!
What good is such an answer?
If it was that simple, sure I would read it myself.
From my past experience though, one can spend many days studying such books and still have no answer unless directly refered to specific paragraph.
I asked very specific question in...
Our packaging machinery OEM company is using safety relays in dual channel manual reset configuration, with ground fault and short circuit monitoring.
We would like to split signals from certain points of safety switches serial chain, for applying to PLC DC inputs.
Does anybody know about...
I am using Acer Travelmate notebook with WinXP.
USB-to-Serial (I prefer Tripp-Lite), PCMCIA and 1747-UIC work all fine, however:
- Windows assigns different COM to the same device when plugged into different USB connectors. Not a tragedy but keep this in mind.
- Windows reboots if the USB device...
