I have a component that is 123 +/-0.005 in width on witch there are some holes located on the centerline of part.
Some are of the opinion that because these holes are shown on the centerline of the width with the applied tolerance, that the tolerance off of the centerline is +/-0.0025

I have a component which has a 1/4-20 UNC-2B thread running through it. I would like to set up a design table to drive multiple configurations. I cannot for the life of me get the table to drive the thread, too. Everything else comes in fine. Is this even possible?

I used to design line bent plastic sheet components all the time using Inventor's sheet metal module. However the thickest we ever did was 6mm, and we never machined v grooves in the parts. So, in short I don't have an answer for you, but I'll be interested to hear from someone else.
The only thing that I can think of is that if a customer ever needs a replacement part, there is no way that your company will be able to provide one that actually works!
Has this ever been pointed out to management?
That's because Y14.5M-1994 is an ASME standard.
Check out http://www.asme.org for starters.
You can also get a lot of answers to Y14.5 questions in the Drafting Standards / GD&T forum.
SmarTeam is run on an Oracle dB, which makes it more complicated, and most recomend a full time administrator. It is however a very powerful tool. It is also one of the most expensive.
You say you have lots of AutoCAD data & some Solidworks, but what are you using to create new data?
We are only using the editor version of SmarTeam. So, we could plunk down more money to get more functionality out of a product that we are not convinced is going to continue to work with Solidworks and also has tremendous upkeep costs. Or, we could put more money up front (but less over the...
My company is currently considering switching from SmarTeam to PDMWorks Enterprise (formerly Conisio) for our PDM. Any Solidworks users out there using Enterprise? Tell me what you can. What are it's strengths/weaknesses? Etc...
DWF is Autodesk's equivalent of an Adobe PDF. It's not the same as a DWG. Autodesk's viewer for DWG & DXF files is called DWG TrueView. These DWg/DXF & DWF file types serve different purposes in the Autodesk universe, hence different viewers. And now you know.
fluevog,
You can use ACADM to create a companion file that is directly linked to the IV file. The feature your asking for already exists. As to how well it works, I don't know - I always did my detailing in IV.
