    External Hard Drive Problem

I have a Western Digital external hard drive that exits the sleep mode for no apparent reason when nobody is using the computer. What can cause this?

    The U-1 form.

    Ellipsoidal Head

I have a tank head which is an 8:1 ellipse. The ASME Code only covers a 2:1 ellipse.

    Ellipsoidal Head

Can anyone tell me how to calculate the MAWP for an 8:1 ellipsoidal head?

    A325 Bolts

Has anyone encountered A325 bolts from China with red stains. Do you know anything about what is causing this problem?

    Network computers "hang up"

Thanks richs. I downloaded a sniffer. I meant 1:00 - 2:00 in the afternoon. By the way, I read that the Windows shadow copy can cause this problem.

    Network computers "hang up"

In our network the computers tend to "hang up" sporadically betwen 1:00 and 2:00. This problem started about a month ago. What could be causing this?

    Stiffening (vacuum) rings

vesselfab, Permissible gaps at weld (in-line intermittent weld) are shown in Fig. UG-30. This is discussed in UG-30(c). Fig. UG-29.2 is for gap in the stiffening ring. doct9960, This is an external ring.

    Stiffening (vacuum) rings

ASME VIII says to use Fig.UG-29.2 to determine the maximum allowable unsupported length (gap) for a ring, but it does not say how many gaps are allowed. Is this figure supposed to be the total allowable gap for all gaps? We want to install the ring as two halves and there would be two gaps.

    Saddle Rings

Can saddle rings also be used as vacuum rings?

    Dimple Jacket

It sounds like you are telling me the pressure used in UG-47 (a) is the jacket pressure. What type of configuration would require UG-28 calculations?

    Dimple Jacket

CodeJackal, I guess I am the third kind. Is the pressure in the equations in UG-47a and App.17-5b the pressure in the tank or the pressure in the jacket?
