You might also look into thread milling. I believe most hass visual programming is capable of programming these and most tooling manufacturers will help you programm these. In materials like this thread milling will usually outperform taps,
Most tooling manufacturers will have sppeds and feeds they recommend. In my experience these materials will have to run between 100 and 150 sfm depending on machine stability and exactly what the material is.
304L is low carbon. Usually this is replaced with nickel or chromium instead of carbon. It can make a big differnece in the machinabilty. I would stay with 304 wherever possible.
