"than most of my coworkers, who use trackballs" rjc: trackballs and spaceballs are two entirely different animals. Whereas, one can force a mouse or trackball to zoom, pan or spin, that is a crippling process eliminating the ability to concurrently do those functions while using the pointing...
A lesson I have learned, the hard way, is that, if you do not turn off inferred constraints (Horiz etc.) that you will get constraints conflicting with what you expect. Also, directional dimensions give the same problem. Add geometry to allow perpendicular dims. only.
Sham Tickoo's book (from CADCIM) beats DesVis book hand's down. Randy Shih has a good one also. All of them are really basic in concept. DesVis title in completely misleading. It most assuredly not an advanced book at all.
In my dealings with grads from several different nationally recognized universities, over a couple of decades, I have discovered that Engineering grads are great calculators and atrocious designers and absolutely incompetant drafters. Now that CAD has entered the arena, one of the drafting slots...
In Teamcenter, try File new dataset. In the newly opened window scroll down to MSExcelX. Create the file, add something to a cell. Try to save it. Then try to open it. If it opens the you are good to go. I can not give you the process, we can not use this handy feature where I work.
Most companies have an "ethics course" that specifies what type of activities are approved of, frowned on or just plain illegal. I suggest you take Company A's courses before you shoot yourself in the foot.
If your IT department will allow saving documents (pdf, doc, xls, etc.) to Teamcenter then a lot of the naming issues should go away. Also, it should preserve the data integrity of the xls file as your C drive could puke.
CPaul you are right, the pull down menues do not work (NX6). Open the CURVE Menu itself. Then you can add the required geometry in the expanded view. I had this same argument with my CAD support group. Their claim was that the pull-downs were not broke, my question was, "Why the different...
Thanks, Will the dimensions done in this manner be accurate? Mine were coming out half as large as they should have been. "Easier" would be context sensitive warnings that tell you "this is now not supported, try..." I suspect that a search in the online docs would not be of a lot of value. Re...
John, does the simultaneous solution eliminate the old issue (V4 and prior) of, after 300 or so mating conditions, the "loading solver" subroutine kicking in? Thanks
I have not done a lot of detailing lately. Even when I did, I rarely used expanded view. I have almost all icon menues off, to maximize working screen size. In expanded view Insert-Point and Insert-Curve are mostly grayed out. However, activating the icon menu allows insertion of both elements...
Try Insert-Curve-Text. Anything newer than NX3, I think, has that function. Tieing them together with a single expression should be possible as a ratio of slot length-width to text spacing-height.
