I don't think you're going to get a definitive answer on this one. Sizing your storm sewers based on the 2-yr post-development flow (or whatever your minor system storm is) is a reasonable method even though you may not utilize the capacity due to the downstream restriction. It's at least a...
Good Day,
Sorry for the slightly off-topic question, but does Hydraflow Hydrographs 2004 allow you to enter data in metric units ? I've read their literature online and they specifically mention English or SI units as an "output feature". Also, some of the sample screenshot windows seems to...
Sorry water2004, I completely forgot about Holtan. I had a look in my copy of the "Handbook of Hydrology" (Editor- David R. Maitland) and it has a one page explanation of the equation parameters and a couple of tables with typical parameter values.
I agree with the others....use Excel to your advantage. You might also consider looking through some hyraulics textbooks to find a partial flow graph that will relate your knowns to your unknowns.
Good question.
I don't have any particular references or standards to pass along, but in London (Ontario), we have regulary used ribbed PVC for storm sewers. As to why some municipalities may not approve of ribbed PVC for sanitary sewers....

To determine the stage-storage relationship for your basin you can use the average-end area method whereby you determine the surface area at various elevations within the facility, take the average of the areas between adjacent stages and multiply by the distance (elevation difference) between...
David,
I too work in Southern Ontario...currently in London, but have worked in Windsor. Anyway, I have been finding recently that more and more municipalities are not accepting the horizontal CB lid orifices for fear that they can be removed too easily. At one time I had information on these...
Haestad Methods is coming out with a book on Stormwater Management (sorry, can't recall the exact title, but check their website). They are currently taking "pre-orders", but when I corresponded with one of their people a few months back they said it was going to be ready to ship in...
Does anybody know of any add-on tools that expand Excel's graphing capabilities to include the ability to generate vector plots and/or contour plots ? Alternatively are there any other programs (preferrably freeware) that is capable of plotting this type of information ?
Thanks.
I've never done the surveying myself, but have been a user of the end product, so I will gladly accept any clarifications/corrections on what I write. You have two options I suppose:
1) Give your surveyor a digital copy of your site (existing conditions), and have them import their surveyed...
drt,
In my case, I started out learning VB (just for my own interest) before I ever used VBA in excel. For myself I found that just learning VB went a long way in using VBA because I didn't have to stuggle with the code writing in addition to how to work with Excels objects. At any rate, the...
