IR,
I'm just a small fry.
There was a company wide procedure implemented revolving around product verification. The design engineers then ran the part through the works and came out with a number of features that need to be monitored.
The risk is extremely low as the process is stable and the...
Greetings,
We've been purchasing castings for years now which were not 100% inspected.
We've since added some additional inspection to a few features and are now finding non-conformnaces in these areas.
There is no risk as they have always been there, so this is merely a paperwork exersize...
Greetings,
There was a short part of my left where I specialized in injection molding.
Today I am holding a plastic cup, much like the image below, that has bubbles in it.
None of the bubbles are surface connected nor are they very close to the surface (I've tried to pierce them with a knife)...
I saw a CMM calibration report that had a W-Axis. Google failed me on this one.
It looked somthing like this (example):
SPEC AFTER
X-axis 0.005 0.002
Y-axis 0.005 0.001
Z-axis 0.005 0.003
W-axis 6A/S 3A/S
1) What is the W-axis? I assume it may be the...
Once installed, I would think so.
However, I'm wondering if we used some type of acid to accelerate the patina before installing, if it would solve the problem. I think the copper oxide should be quite stable.
Does anyone have any input on doing this?
Ed,
So would zinc plating be any improvement? The only benefit I see is that the head would be the cathode instead of the anode. The engine is inverted so I don't think plug rusting into the head would be an issue. Especially since the plugs don't stay in that long without either being...
"The oxides that form will be porous and allow water to saturate them" -- this applies to which materials?
I was taught copper developed a good patina that provided fairly good corrosion protection. As seen with lady liberty & other architectural uses.
If we can get by 3 or 4 years...
It is on an engine head obviously, that's used on an amphibious vehicle. Sometimes these vehicles operate in or near the oceans. And may be subjected to high volumes of saltwater & spray. It should be rinsed after use but that does not always happen. I'm not sure of the exact material types...
Greetings,
We've switched our CHT (cylinder head temperature senders) to a better more reliable type.
However the connecting "eyelet" is solid copper (unknown grade/alloy), in contrast to our old ones that were zinc-plated steel (like the spark plug).
These copper eyelets just go around the...
I was under the impression that a DC converter like the charger I'm concerned with, are constantly drawing power even when the tablet is not plugged in. Is this just an old wives tale?
Even if they are peak values, the ratio is still over 3:1. (3 watts consumed by the converter for every 1...
Greetings,
I'm a mechanical guy so I wanted to make sure I'm understanding this right.
We are going to start using tablets as scanning stations to record job costing, inventory.etc (why tablets? I don't know, not my decision....)
Anyway, there will be quite a number of them which will never...
If it is "Thru both walls/sides", would this not simply become just "thru"?
After 2 college degrees, a drafting certification and 10 years in the business, I have never seen or heard the use of "thru one wall" or the like..... guess thats why I like this forum so much.
In the instance that...
Greetings,
I was wonder how others dimension this.
Say you have 1.00 X 1.00 X 1/8 Square tubing, with a 1/4" hole in one side (but not through the opposite side).
When dimension the depth for the 1/4" hole, do you put the depth equal to the material thickness (i.e. 1/8 DP)? Or the depth to...
Spray.com was one of my first stops. They basically told me I was crazy and that I should design a rig on which I can place nozzles that are facing straight down.
I think "Boomless Flat spray nozzle" is probably the relevant term. I'll keep digging but its looking more and more like I'm...
