Multi DOF spec question

I can't believe this is still going on. We've shot down angle mounted fixtures as multi-axis fixtures at least twice that I remember. All you are doing is exciting a different axis. Unless you know this the fragile axis, so what? I think you're misinterpreting Wayne. Why would a diffferent...

    random vibration analysis

Look out for Mile's equation. Terry Scharton of JPL has written several papers on the subject in conjunction with force-limited testing. Mile's gives the correct ratio of response acceleration-to-base acceleration, but overlooks the fact that a valley in the base acceleration spectra will...

Looking for an alternate to NAVMAT P-9492 (ESS TESTS)

I don't think you need an alternative. The so-called Willoughby profile is considered a starting point and as Tom Irvine has already pointed out the final screnn is what works best for the product. That is a screen that weeds out defective units without damaging good ones.

Does mechanical vibration have an offset ?

According to Dave Smallwood removing spurious DC componenets via wavelet decomposition instead of high pass filtering is preferable. A wavelet analysis packet is available from Matlab. Dave is at Sandia in New Mexico and has published papers on the subject. My wavelet packet is on order, so I...

    Vibration Standard Required

A word of caution - This is a good STARTING point, but screens are developmental. That is - if you get too many failures, or not enough, you need to lower, raise, or notch the spectrum. A bit of folklore - when this spec first came out in the 80's the profile was called...

    Reference Material

The Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) is a great source of vibration info. Their annual Technical meeting is in Providence RI, 4/30 - 5/4 2000. They are having tutorials that cover exactly what you are interested in.

940 East Northwest Highway
Mount...

    modal analysis

The whole area of "modal analysis", analytical and experimental, involves standing waves. Musical instruments are a good example, especially strings, which are easy to picture. I.E. the string is always distorted in the same shape only varying plus and minus and how much. An ocean...
