Hi
Can you use envelope on linear dimension? It is commenly used in holes. But if we look in old keyway standards they often use h9 for width length and thickness and back then envelope was included in h9.

It is a box with aluminium threads. It is attached to a steel plate with a4-80 bolts. The force comes from the aluminium box and can come for all direction inclusive shock loads.
My question us more about understanding why you would reduce the strength of a bolted joint based on diffrences in...
Hi
I have screw a4-80 witch is used with a aluminium thread. As i have understood it you reduce the strength of the joint based the difference in yeild strength.
But a structural engineer claims that you also reduce the capacity off the joint based on the diffrence in the young module between...
If someone is using a torque wrench and there is to little thread and he hit the predrilled hole with the bolt. Will the guy using the torque wrench notice that? So that he can change bolt or add some thread?
I told our cheif engineer in a case that the thread will be too little if the schim...
I had meating with the reseller snd there technical expert and they now believe in the design with a jaw coupling. But we will talk with the coupling company about the radial shock. But the technical expert wasn't concerned.
2 meter hence the angle become small since the tolerance of the supports are good. And you can put a concentricity tolerance on the shaft between the edges where the coupling are being clamped.
Yes i am in a conversation with a reseller it was he who suggested the idea to put the shaft together to deal with the axial shock. And if you ask a manufacturer you ask for a specfic coupling design which i have done. I think that you can use many venues :) to point you it the right direction...
Because the item the gearbox and shaft is mounted on get shock loads in a vertical and horizontal direction. But the engine is not being used when that happens.
Have you any suggestion how i could set up this design with out a gear coupling? I sm open for suggestion:)
Yes but if the shaft move the hub will move even with interference fit. I can not see that this cause a collision in the coupling and it will only happen when the engine isn't running.
