Partial Stiffener Rings for Tailing Lugs

I would appreciate a reference or a spreadsheet to calculate the forces on a partial stiffener ring that is used to reinforce a vertical vessel at the tailing lug location. Moss 3rd addition seems to leave me with more questions than answers. Thank you

Analysis of straight flange on pressure vessel head

Thank you for your post. I agree with you completely and that is why I brought it to this forum of experienced designers. Your support and advice will allow me to change a design practice that has been out of bounds for some time now. Best regards.

Analysis of straight flange on pressure vessel head

Analysis of straight flange on pressure vessel head

Thanks Brandon. That is technically what I am looking for. An associate engineer thinks ASME has provided an opinion beyond the code that says the shell analysis of the straight flange isn't necessary but I've not been able to locate such a statement.

Analysis of straight flange on pressure vessel head

Is there a published ASME "opinion" that the straight flange of a pressure vessel head does not have to be designed as a shell element? APV software does not include the straight flange in the head analysis but Compress appears to do so.
