minimizing beam sagging by adding more supports

is this a beam ? with a simple load you can use math to solve the double redundancy you get from adding additional supports. the advantage of doing it this way is you can run many simulations very quickly. a strategy I might suggest is place one support at the peak, analyze the single redundancy...

FEA of a beam sagging under its own weight

I am performing an FEA of a beam that is to be analyszed for maximum sagging under own weight...the purpose is to minimise the sagging by adding more supports... analytical calculations considering two extreme end supports,i.e simply supported beam case revealed a maximum deflection of 17.5 mm...

FEA of a beam sagging under its own weight

Dear Drej, thank you for your reply.. you said "Apply your boundary conditions manually rather than choosing a pre-assigned condition and assume that it's done what you want. Remember also that a strict mathematical simply supported beam isn't always what people think it is i.e. it is not both...

FEA of a beam sagging under its own weight

i am trying to determine the maximum deflection of a beam on account of its sagging due to its own weight. I have the CAD MODEL of the beam and i import its IGS into ANSYS WB14.static structural. I performed analytical calculations considering uniformly distributed loading and simply supported...

bolt material determination by torque tightening

thank you for your replies.. yes you are correct mrfailure..material composition test is a good way to identify the correct grade..how will i determine the proof load for bolt and nut? how will hardness determination help determining the material grade of nut and bolt? 8.8 bolt is ISO right?

bolt material determination by torque tightening

I have a M20 bolt with 8.8 embossed on it and a nut with 5 embossed on it ..i seek to check the material of both these two by tightening them at the recommended torque(calculated by knowing the listed proof strength of bolt against 8.8 and yield strength of nut as per grade 6) .any thread...

achieving a joint in seamless pipes

metengr:How much length do you need to avoid butt welds for the lance??? --> the length of travel is such that the joint travels thru the guide.. moltenmetal ->Jig tack the pieces to ensure proper alignment, weld in a rotator with proper guiding, grind the weld OD flush, then do the required...

    joining seamless pipes

can i have videos demonstrating welding of seamless pipes..? SnTMan: you need to determine whether such work is legally required to be designed / fabricated to a Code of construction, such as a piping code. Following a piping code whether required or not will insure sound welds between the...

    joining seamless pipes

stainless steel for what? can i have videos demonstrating welding of seamless pipes..? there must be some laid down procedures/standards for circumferential butt welding of seamless pipes..where can i find them?.. and after that how do i test them..the operating time is about 14 hours...how...

    joining seamless pipes

thank you for that insight Sntman..are there any examples of this? any published evidence? does any standard purport such a method to obtain this joint?
