    Table UW-16.1 manufacture's fitting thickness

Hi Considering the table UW-16.1 General Note: "For fittings having a specified outside diameter not equal to the outside diameter of an equivalent standard NPS (DN) size, the NPS (DN) size chosen from the table shall be one having an equivalent outside diameter larger than the fitting’s outside...

    PCV vs UG-126(b)

Hi, Does a globe valve with a pneumatic actuator (like a PCV), controlled by a self-actuated pilot valve (upstream signal) and fail position open meets with requirements of UG-126(b)? Best regards Torsani

Brazilian PV Code NR-13 pressure vessel definition vs. ASME BPVC

Dear coold, By NR-13, appendix III, 2(f), any equipment designed by API-650 or API-620, that are not pressure vessel codes, are not included in NR-13 scope. Best regards, Torsani

    Using Manways as Nozzles

I think if you want to use a manway as a nozzle, it should be in accordance with UG-45 rules for nozzle.

ASME VIII - Appendix 13 - Sketch 6 Spreadsheet issue

Hi, Crompto29 is right about the use of E_M instead of E_theta1 in the equation of Beta_M. I think that ASME is wrong. But the equation of Theta1 is still a mystery ...

ASME VIII - Appendix 13 - Sketch 6 Spreadsheet issue

Hi, Crompto29 The Theta1 equation is Theta1 = arctan(L4/L3). The equation that you show is ThetaM equation. I think that you should use E*Theta1 at BetaM equation. You are using EM, that I think is wrong. There are a variable E(subscribe)theta1 that I think shouldn't used here.

    Proof test of dimple jacket

Hi I need to determine the MAWP of a standard dimple jacket to be applied in vessels with diameter since 800mm until 4000mm. This dimple jacket is 17-1(a)(2) type (inflated). 1 - Should representative panel have a curvature according 17-5(a)(2)? 2 - Is enough only one representative panel with...

    Coil Penetration

Hi I'm calculating a vessel with a internal coil. How can I apply UG-45 and UG-37 to coil penetration through the heads? Should I use the vessel internal pressure as coil externalç pressure? How? - Vessel's internal pressure: 6 bar. - Coil internal pressure: 79 bar. Thanks

    Nozzle neck x manhole thickness

Hi What are the reasons to consider UG-45(b)(1), (2), (3) and (4) only for nozzle neck thickness and not for manhole thickness?

    Toriconical maximum apex angle?

Hi ASME VIII-1 UG-32 doesn't clarify what is the maximum apex angle of toriconical heads unde internal pressure. Until what angle can I use UG-32(h) rules? I think that the limit is 60 degree because UG-32(j). Am I right? After the limit can I calculate toriconical head as a flat head...

ASME Section VIII edition 2004, is endorsing two separate Units of Mea

In other countries, as Brazil, we have been using both metric and customary units for a long time. The standard system is SI but some parts, as bolts and fittings, are used in customary units. In Brazil metric bolts, for example, are according DIN standard and it isn't according metric ANSI...

    software for material thickness calculations

See: http://www.cerebromix.com This software calculates material thickness, weight and shows plate layouts for heads. It calculates pressure vessel body and nozzles by ASME VIII-1. Good luck,
