I am currently looking for a replacement for SKF Remko B magnetic iron and was wondering if anyone knows of any alternatives. It is being used on a DC electromagnetic relay, and I need the same magnetic properties.
As an eletrical engineer, my chemical knowledge is rather small. I do the electrical design of a product that is housed in a small lexan housing and used in the power industry. The enclosure houses a circuit board, battery, LED, and flag indicator. The problem is that the enclosure cannot be...
Good News!
Last week my boss and my human resources manager called me into the office and gave me an offer for a full time engineering position. I guess my work was going noticed. Thanks for the advice everyone.
My company is currently potting the inside of an enclosure with an epoxy resin. The enclosure houses a PCB and a flag or LED indicator, however, if the potting gets on the flag it no longer functions properly. To combat this, the company has stopped potting the enclosures with the flag...
Thanks for the feedback.
When I started, the guy that was leaving spent his last two weeks teaching me his job. I am in charge of a whole product line along with doing the co-op stuff for another product line. As for the co-op period, they never said that there was a deadline. There is an...
I recently graduated from college in May and could not find a job right out of college due to my lack of experience. I finally found a good place that said they didn't have any openings for a full time engineer, but they could put me on as a co-op. The first day I started one of the engineers...
When I checked the old schematic for the circuit I saw that it used to use a ceramic resonator, but when a redesign was done it was switch to a crystal at 8 MHz. Would the ceramic resonator hold up better?
The 5% failure rate is an immediate failure.
Thanks for tips. As for itsmoked's question it is a thru-hole crystal.
Would there be a way to protect the crystal without changing the welding process?
Hello, I currently have a problem with a crystal used on one of our PCBs. When the board is first mounted in the unit a faulted circuit indicator)it is tested. Once it passes the tests an LED is glued to the enclosure that the PCB is mounted in using an ultraviolet flood lamp. The enclosure...
Thanks for the help MagMike. Vacuumschmelze said that they could sell us a melts worth, but a melts worth would be a five year supply and way too much money.
I use a latching type relay for a faulted circuit indicator. When a high fault current is sensed the pulse magnetizes a core that pulls a latch down and turns an orange flag to indicate the fault. When power is restored the magnet is pulsed in a different direction to demagnetize the core...
The core for the latching relay that I currently use is no longer made at the specs I need (vacozet 258). The coercivity is 26 Oe. I was wondering if there was a magnetic stainless steel that I can use. It has to change poles with a short current pulse and act as a weak permanent magnet after...
