I am assuming that you are also using a geodimeter instrument with the gedat. I am not real sure how to address this as I only would use a geodat as a backup device for extremely large projects. But here goes. The problem is most likely a compatibility issue so as a possible work aroud for now...
I have asked some of my fellow surveyors and the vertical or benchmark data is retained by each district office,meaning there is no onestop collection of corps benchmarks. You should be able to obtain the number from the blue government pages in your phone book .

You might want to look at the NGS web site since they would be the controling agency for most government survey data. I am not sure about corp monuments that may be something that each office controls.

You might want to look at carlson software. They market a product called carlson xml which is based on the autocad engine but it not autocad. Most auto cad commands are the same and it will do what you are wanting to do. The cost if I remember when I purchased mine was around 1700.00...
