Using a motor to rotate a sphere from the inside

i wish I could just fake it, but that defeats the fun of it and creates other problems I'd rather not deal with. Mintjulep, thanks for pointing out rc helicopters. This looks like a job for servo motors. Looks like there is gonna be 4 motors involved. I think for now I'm satisfied with this...

Using a motor to rotate a sphere from the inside

sorry for the double post but... I think the reason zekeman suggested the double shaft is to allow greater control. With simply two motors with the stators attached, control might be more difficult, especially with a conventional motor. Once you apply the force to an axis, how would you stop...

Using a motor to rotate a sphere from the inside

yep mintjulep your post was pretty much what I was talking about. sorry i didn't get it completely in the first read. lol i wasn't too sure what a stator was till now. seems like the gyroscope idea(with the motor, gyro and linear actuator) though might be more difficult to implement. would you...

magnetic shielding of electric components while allowing signal

thanks for the help biff44, although the manufacturers claimed its constant magnetic field, theres always a chance it might fluctuate. I'll take your tips to heart. Glad to see that it is possible to shield electric components while in a magnetic field.

Using a motor to rotate a sphere from the inside

thanks guys for the tips. I was thinking kind of along your lines zekeman on the conservation of angular momentum. i'm looking for the solution with the least amount of components and power usage. Since only 12oz can go in the globe. Of course at the same time I don't want to sacrifice the...

Using a motor to rotate a sphere from the inside

I'm planning to create a device inside a levitating globe like below: this device would be able to rotate the globe through some force from the inside. I'm trying to think of the best method to construct a mechanism that can do this. What makes this mechanical problem difficult is that I want...

Benefits of higher frequency wireless cameras?

Hey guys, I always wondered. Is there any benefit for a device to be on the 2.45ghz bandwidth as opposed to like say 0.9ghz? I'm thinking of buying a wireless camera and there are 2 options for frequency. Thanks

magnetic shielding of electric components while allowing signal

thanks for the help guys. I'm not really sure if the magnetic field would be constant or varying. But wouldn't it need to vary so that the globe can be balanced? I'll contact the manufacturers for more info. Supposing that it is pwm though, what would the solution be?

magnetic shielding of electric components while allowing signal

yep thats the product i'm buying here http://www.1worldglobes.com/Specialty/anti-gravity-globe.htm the page doesnt have any kind of data sheets unfortunately. Though would you say that a device like this has a constantly varying magnetic field? That would be a major problem wouldn't it?

magnetic shielding of electric components while allowing signal

So i wasnt' aware there was a magnetic forum and double posted previously on the ee one. But since this question is much more relevant here, please excuse me for posting again. So basically i have this powerful electromagnet that generates an electromagnetic field that can levitate another...

magnetic shielding of electric components while allowing signal

So basically i have this powerful electromagnet that generates an electromagnetic field that can levitate another magnet and withhold a load of 12oz and still levitate: My problem is, I want to be able to use electronics and send wireless signals through this strong magnetic field. I can shield...

    Running FEA with beams

hi guys, I'm a complete noob in solidworks so sorry if this is a dumb question. I've been trying to run an FEA with a structure i made out of weldments and solidbodies. The solid body is essentially a plate, which is mated onto the weldments. I want to apply a force to that plate and have the...
