Hi,
I need some help/advise on how to obtain the heat generated from various equipment in the kitchen of a restaurant. Dishwasher, deep fryer, 4 burner stove. The cooking equipment are under the hood so some of the heat will be taken out (if it can be called that) by the exhaust of air through...
Thanks BigInch,
I have read your comments to other questions and I have great respect for your knowledge. I am an ME, and I need to learn how to do this. I just needed some preliminary design parameters to get started. Are there any resources to show examples of this sort of piping?

I need help on piping design from a 500 gal storage tank to the Gen-Set both sitting on same concrete pad about 20 feet apart. Should piping be underground or above ground. What should be the pipe schd. and what type valves should be used. Location is in the Texas panhandle.

Hi,
Are there any health reasons for mandating (by code) to have 75 cfm exhaust per fixture in public bathrooms? A client has asked that we don't design per 75 cfm code, and that he will get us a variance from the local code authority. The State board of PE's requires us to design with the...
Hi,
I have to submit a proposal for MEP fee for 100 unit aprtment complex. All same size look-alike. The architect says that the fee should be same as fee for one unit since they are all the same. What are the basic common rules for adjusting fees for multi-unit aprtments?
I will include the...
Hi,
I have autocad 2006 running. I want to add a few bottons to the top menue line, such as "save as", "match propoerties" and "quick leader". In 2004 I could just drag the icon for these commands from a list to that top line, but now it all has changed. I have looked at the instructions but I...
Thanks for your comments. It is undestood that any air exhausted from will have to be brought in through the fresh air component of the many AHU's that this building has.
regards,
I am trying to confirm whether the the new 75 cfm exhaust per fixture mandated by code (ASHRAE 62 or IMC 2006) means 100%fresh air or can this be air from adjcent areas pulled in. This could be supply conditioned air (has a % of fresh air ) or just infiltration from areas adjacent to the...
Is the index route your farthest hydraulic unit? This should be the path with the highest pressure drop.
As for the diversity, you want to know if at any time, all the flow is needed for the building load.
I think 75% is too low. Better to design for above 90% or even 100%, and as quark...
RPZ requires horizontal installation. Most of the lease finish-outs don't have space allocated for this install. Is above the ceiling acceptable and ok location?
Thanks.
What would be the fixture count for these new high efficiency toilt fixtures. I have 1.3 gpf Water closets and 1 pint urinals in a public building. Need to size the swere lines but not sure if the old fixture counts would lead to larger than needed pipes.
thanks,
Hi,
Is there any building code that requires a non-residential restroom to have floor drain. Typical restrooms in an office building for example.
