    Just wondering what an MGPE system is on a cruise ship? I'm guessing something like high pressure hydraulics? The pipe we have been asked to replaced on this sytem is 25mm schedule 80 - so I'm guessing it's a high pressure system of some kind, or could it be some kind of passive electrical hull...

    Crown Wheel and Pinion Backlash Calcs.

    We are installing a new crown wheel and pinion gear in a ships Bow Thruster. I need to shim the crown wheel to achieve the correct backlash clearance of 0.23mm, at the moment I have 2.4mm. Does anyone know of a formula for working this out????

    Machining connecting rod big ends.

    We have recently opened up a MAN B&W main engine to find the connecting rod big ends are excessively oval. Does anyone have any experience with machining connecting rods (dia of bearing approx 300mm).
