Frame members not getting created in higher levels

I've seen this before and it seems to be a bug but all right but I think it may be graphics card related.

    Solid Edge Extrusion

When extruding, on the Smartstep ribbon, click "extrude - symmetric extent", this will un-select it!!! Got me for ages, thought I was going insane. Tony

    ST5 Etching problems.

I'd apply MP3 which is just out as there is a bug fix for etch listed. Worth a try. Tony

Proper method of drafting structural frames of welded tubes

In addition to BC's comments, I'd use the frame tool in conjunction with parts/cutting lists. If you haven't used the frame tool before then you will find the interface a bit clunky but persist as it is well worth taking the time to learn properly. Also, if you can update to ST5 then do so as...

    Part copy visibility in drafts

In draft, select your view, open properties and then the display tab. At the top click on the button called Parts List Options and select constructions. Now in the pathfinder below, expand out the list and make the construction surfaces visible. Tony

    Best practice for framing?

Griffin It is possible if you are on ST5. Follow instruction in attached image. Tonyhttp://screencast.com/t/50C2CUO7v

    Best practice for framing?

Yes Griffin, this is the method I use. It is a bit more manageable and helps for reuse or if you want to swap the whole frame with one with a different wall thickness. If you are on ST5 then you will get the benefit of the frame edit local menu which really helps. I would also put a button on...

ST5 license, do I have it?

17th is just the Uk launch of ST5. It will some weeks before it will be available to download.

    How large are your assemblies?

The big performance benefit will be achieved when you learn to use simplified parts. It takes a bit of time to set each part up but if you get into the habit of doing it then it will make a big difference. Don't forget that turning off textures (and all the other check boxes for that matter)...

    Adjustable Assemblies & Forumulas

I don't use adjustable parts much but I think I would do this with the peer variable table. This allows formulas to be created between parts within an assembly. You may have to make the part non-adjustable first, though I'm not sure. Tony

HOW TO USE ".psm" TEMPLATE WHEN CREATING ASSEMBLIES FROM PARASOLID FILES?

It doesnt matter if they come in as .par files because even if they got saved as .psm they would still need to be converted to sheetmetal via the "convert to sheetmetal" command on the "applications" menu. Tony

Frames - How to miter a non-corner location?

ranchero For this type of condition you will need to have all the sections in the same select set. Either start again but this time select all of the sketch lines, or, right click on Frame_1 in the tree and right click select "edit definition", then click on the "Frame-select path step" button...

    SolidEdge doesn't pan smoothly

Make sure the graphic option is set to "graphics card driven (advanced)" under the View tab in Solid Edge Options which is at the bottom of the Applications button (have a part or something open). You can also set "culling" to max and this will help. Tony

Conversion from SolidWorks to Solid Edge

BC is correct, the active configuration is exported. No intelligence is carried across. It is just like opening a STEP file i.e. dumb solid.

Stitched Surfaces Do Not Create Solid

There are two possible workflows here. Take what you have done and re-apply the stitch command. Then select "stitch" from the feature tree, right click and select "attach", then select "add". This will give you a solid. The other (possibly more normal)way is to create an inside or outside...
