Modern Power System Protection Training Course

I am looking for a transmission protection and Control training in Canada or US. Someone refered me to this course offred by Univirsitry of Wisconsin. Has anyone attended this course who can provide a feedback? http://epdfiles.engr.wisc.edu/pdf_web_files/epd/P018.pdf Thank you

    CT Saturation Curve

I always thought that the CT accuracy class defines the metering or protection class and not the Burden. A 600/5 CT with B=0.1 is used for protection in this case.

    CT Saturation Curve

how the saturation time of a CT is being calculated? for example a 600/5 ratio with a B=0.1

    Power Transformer- Protection

One of our customers is upgrading their electrical system by replacing a 2.5MVA transformer to 5 MVA transformer ( 27.6kV primary). I am wondering if there is a CEC requirement to install a breaker on the primary side of the new transformer instead of a disconnect switch? Thanks for all feedbacks

Allowable horizontal distance from the substation fence

We are designing a 230kV substation and wondering if there are any code/standard requirements in Canada to provide certain horizontal distance from de-energized parts a 230kV substation equipment ( such as A-Frame) to the substation fence?

    Ground Grid Design

GPR level is acceptable. Step and touch are not within the limits, so my question is whether modeling the existing substation ( which is taking a long time) and connecting it to the existing grid would change the S&T potentil values of the new subtation or as pwrtran indicated we just have to...

    Ground Grid Design

We are building a small substation ( including a transformer and a padmount switchgear) in adjacent to a wind farm substation and connecting the new substation ground grid to the existing grid. The existing grid has a measured grid resistance of .5 ohms. we are using Cymgrd to model our...

    Power Transformers typical impedance values

We are working on a project and need to define typical ( conservative ) impedance values for Delata-Wye and Wye-G, Wye-G, Delta transformers. Transformers are 18/25/30 Mva 230kV/34.5 kV. Where can I find these typical values? I apprecite your responces.

    Cables installed in Ductbanks

CEC suggests specific arrangements for underground cable installations in section B4. I am working on a design which specifies 6C/phase cables in 6 conduits. Our preferred arrangement to accommodate installation flexibility is to have all phase-A, B and C cables installed in one duct bank...

    Substation temp. Fence

Mgtrp, the entire temp. Fence will be inside the existing substation. When you say it may be metal, do you mean it must be metal and must be grounded?

    Substation temp. Fence

Can wooden fence be used as a temp. Fence on portion of a substation? Do we have to follow all grounding rules if a metal fence is used? Thanks

    Great feedbacks. Thank you all

    % submittal

Makes sense. It seems that there is no clear definition between engineers for percentage submittals.

    % submittal

Thanks disk I am specifically interested to know based on what criteria 30-60-90% submissions are defined? Level of detail? Or customer defines it?

    Cable sizing for 600-1000 Vdc

Are there any references to size Cables for DC applications? I know that cable size should be smaller.
