I'm now designing marine pipeway trestles, supported by piles. Is there anybody to give me some idea to reduce number of piles and/or structures? Normal design shows 4 nos. of batter piles per one bent. Thanks in advance.

There is very soft clay ( c = 0.5 kg/cm2, SPT N=0~2) of 10 m thick depth.
Water depth will be less than 5m.
