Thanks for the replies on this.
If it helps anyone; in the end I conceded defeat, extruded all the ribs vertically upwards, then surface cut them with a revolved conical sheet as the trim plane. Not quite what I needed, but good enough for now.
Thanks for the replies guys (and the background, John).
Snowcrash, yes, "..confine the points to one side of the split" is exactly what I need to do. But there's no 'stay on this side of the right plane' constraint!
Yep, it's a 2012 version, and as you all know - I can't save backwards.
Hi,
I have a series of 3D sketch points (3DSketch4 in attached model), each of which is constrained by two 'on plane' constraints, and one 'on surface' constraint. The surface is an extruded ellipse (nearly cylindrical), which means the 3d points could mathematically be in one of two points...
When you click on the 'link to property' box, make sure the radio button is on either 'model in view specified.....' or 'component to which the annotation is attached'.
Thanks for the reply. I've tried deleting all relations on all sketches related to the part but the 'vary sketch' box still doesn't appear at all.
Please see attached link of a simplified version of what I'm trying to do. I basically want two points of each of the 'gussets' to follow the two...
Hi Guys,
I'm trying to circular pattern a feature but there's no 'vary sketch' option. I don't mean it's greyed out; there's no box for it at all (but the help menu refers to it).
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Simon
possibly.....but I'm talking here about maybe 50-200 ribs, all requiring the same width, draft angles etc....but with different lengths / angles etc...
Hi All,
A pick your brains question to see if anyone out there does this a better way than me...
I model a lot of rib structures for injection-moulded parts (so lots of 'X' shape ribs intersecting on the inside of a shelled component). Often the ribs are disrpted with lots of screw bosses...
Yeah, that's what I've done for new files; but was really looking to copy & paste views for drawing files already in existence, but it looks like I was a bit optimistic.
Thanks for the replies anyway
Yeah, I could do if the views were 'jogged' simply with the mouse keys, but I've got lots of randomly-rotated views, all with different levels of perspective...
Thanks for the suggestion,
Sy
I think I've had the same thing before; I've always had to rotate the model around so that ONLY the part I want to select is under the cursor.
Does 'show hidden components' help you at all?
Hi Guys,
As the title says really; if you have a saved view in one part or assy (with perspective, say, and at exactly the right angle...) anyone know of a way to copy it to another part or assy for reuse?
Hi Guys,
I have an exploded view of an assembly in a SW drawing. I've created a detail view of an area of this view, but can't work out how to hide the explode lines in the detail view.
I can't work out how to put them ona separate layer, or hide them in the detail view.
Any ideas?
