Looking for information regarding Motors sold to Australia company's and their certifications

In March 2016 C-Tick (and A-Tick) was replaced with the RCM mark in both Australia and New Zealand. In simple terms any product which contains a switch mode power supply, transistor, microprocessor, commutator, slip-ring motor or operates in a non-linear mode may be required to be branded with...

    Resistive Heater - VFD

I understand this thread is a couple of months old but thought a late response could still be beneficial for future applications. Some VSD manufactures offer VSDs with an adjustable voltage operating mode designed for such applications. It enables frequency to remain fixed while allowing...

    Configuring Powerflex 40P

@ pssriram16, The baud rate which Drive Explorer prompts you for in the Configure Communication tab will actually be the baud rate of the 1203-USB device which is normally 115200. If you change this it should work. You shouldn't have to change the drive baud rate.

    PCS Soft Starter

I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is now. It may pay to check the nameplate on the side of the starter to ensure you are replacing like for like. They have updated the PCS model with a revision B which can be used for both 3-wire and 6-wire connections where as the revision A could only be...

    PCS Soft Starter

If the current is only dropping to 15.5 Amps then this shouldn't be your problem. As mentioned the current must drop below 50% of the minimum dial setting. The PCS-037-480V has a dial range from 12.3 Amps to 37 Amps so 50% of the minimum dial setting is about 6.2 Amps. Is your installation an...

    Motor overload is not tripping.

Jraef, I think you may be confusing the MCD201 with the MCD202. The MCD201 is the basic model which does not have an inbuilt overload which is probably why the motor protection circuit breaker was used. Also the MCD201 does not contain current transformers for current sensing (unlike the...

    PCS Soft Starter

As suggested by jraef the PCS soft starter does have a current based detection system for the phase loss/open load protection function. Basically if the current falls below 50% of the minimum FLA dial setting then this alarm may occur. For the PCS-037-480V the minimum dial setting is 12.3 Amps...

    Overload tripping

ASimmons23, I'd have to disagree with you there as these overloads do not have a separate control voltage supply. They are self powered meaning they acquire their power supply directly from the line supply i.e. the 3-phase supply. Usually, as ScottyUK has suggested, these types of devices do...

    Overload tripping

Just throwing something out there from left field which others may be able to confirm. The E1 Plus overload is a self powered device using the current flowing through the device to charge an internal capacitor which then powers the microprocessor. Given that this device is rated for 18-90 Amps...

    Danfoss softstarter MCD500

Keith, Just as a side note and something for you to consider in the design of the retrofit, to use the AAC learning functionality you will need to ensure you install the soft starters in the in-line (3-wire) configuration as the AAC function is disabled in the inside delta (6-wire) configuration.

700 kw motor started with a soft start

Keith, The new (or not so new as this technology has been in sale for the past 6 months already) artificial intelligence that adapts the soft start and soft stop profiles that you describe does work very well indeed however each application still has to be judged on its merrits. I have seen a...

Water Hammer Pump Sudden Shut off

TechnoZA in the case of power loss to VSD's the motor will acutally become a generator and depending on which VSD is being used some are capable of recovering the kinetic energy of the motor and load and use this energy to keep the DC bus powered long enough to allow the motor to ramp down to a...

VFD Noob, Hitachi J300 input confusion

Kind of a late reply to this thread but if you look at page 5-14 of the manual it shows the terminal connection diagram. If you look at the digital inputs you'll notice they're latched inputs. This looks to be fairly common throughout the entire Hitachi range and is fairly common with other...
