ASME Code Case applied to Material Requirement? (ASME boiler and pressure vessle code)

Thanks Metengr, much appreciated. wsu1975, I completely agree with you that IF I was designing components to this specification then I should have every piece of this specification. I totally, completely, 100% agree with you. I originally stated that a customer drawing had these requirements...

ASME Code Case applied to Material Requirement? (ASME boiler and pressure vessle code)

Thanks everyone. So I understand that the Code Case has no impact on the material specification. BUT, if this code case has test requirements that the material must pass, for example if it states that tensile tests on the material shall show a strength above XX ksi. It would be an additional...

ASME Code Case applied to Material Requirement? (ASME boiler and pressure vessle code)

Hello everyone. I hope someone can help me out. I've got a customer drawing of a part that states in the notes: 1) Material, fabrication, and examination to be in accordance with ASME boiler and pressure vessel code section III division 1, subsection NF for a class 1 linear support. 2) material...

Cooling an Environmental Chamber with Dry Ice. What's the coldest you can get the air temp down to?

DVD, good call on the oxygen. No worries there, we've got the chamber in a giant warehouse with climate control. Moving air and the percentage of CO2 would be extremely low. As far as calibration of the chamber. This chamber is just for low temperature soaks. Our PID controllers and fan...

Cooling an Environmental Chamber with Dry Ice. What's the coldest you can get the air temp down to?

Thanks for all the responses guys. I guess the system is not "air tight", I mean every opening is sealed but I'm sure that it isn't hermetic. We are not building up any pressure... The chambers start off with ambient air. The ratio of dry ice to volume is 1:3. I think I may have found a...

Cooling an Environmental Chamber with Dry Ice. What's the coldest you can get the air temp down to?

racoope1978 - What temperature are you able to get the air to in your setup with the pelletized ice?

Cooling an Environmental Chamber with Dry Ice. What's the coldest you can get the air temp down to?

Thanks guys. We've got a solenoid operated valve for a liquid nitrogen tank somewhere.... Definitely thinking I'm going to have to go that route. btrueblood - The first chamber is loaded with dry ice, we tried maximizing the surface area, leaving airflow space around each stack of blocks...

Cooling an Environmental Chamber with Dry Ice. What's the coldest you can get the air temp down to?

I've got an insulated 2 Part ev chamber. One part of the chamber holds many blocks of dry ice, the other part holds the test specimen to be cooled. 2 insulated ducts with fans push and pull air through the chambers circulating the cold air. After a day of circulating the cold air the AIR...

316 Stainless - Shear strength - Sloppy punch press

Hey everyone, got a question regarding the shear strength of 316 Stainless Steel. I have a design that utilizes a punch press of sorts. Basically it is a load limiting device that breaks at a certain load. The loads are quite high and the parts are huge so the shearing "plates" have a radial...

PAEK vs. PEEK what are the differences?

    Thanks for the input guys.

PAEK vs. PEEK what are the differences?

IRstuff, your right, I was just curious as to this materials properties. I had never heard of it before. I'm specifying the PEEK mainly because it's one of the few structural plastics that can be used in radiation environments. Perhaps PAEK is also radiation tolerant? I don't have the ASTM...

PAEK vs. PEEK what are the differences?

Can't believe I forgot to add this to my original question, the PAEK is per ASTM D-6262

PAEK vs. PEEK what are the differences?

Right, of course. I probably should have mentioned what I asked our purchasing department to get quoted. I asked for PEEK per MIL-P-46183 type 1. I believe a supplier suggested the PAEK as an alternative because it was over run that they had on hand.

PAEK vs. PEEK what are the differences?

Hello all, I have a large diameter part that needs to be made from PEEK (Temperature, radiation environment) and our purchasing department came back with several quotes, one was for 6" diameter x 3" lg "pucks" of PAEK material. What I've been able to find out online is that PAEK was the...
