But, what will he get in "trade". That is the question.

Er... FWIW,
"Force Rebuild" Is not that :) The true force rebuild comes only from the API as far as I know. CTRL+Q rebuilds ONLY THE TOP LEVEL of asm's. It does not rebuild "down into" sub asm's etc. Now, if you do some reading on rebuild in the API you will see that by using...
macPT,
Far as I know (I don't do this much). You need to do the following.
1. Copy your files somewhere else.
2. Select the "open file" dialog within SldWks.
3. Now select "references".
4. Now you need to change the referenced files.
5. Change the refs to point to the dir...
92DP,
You sort of did something redundant, best I can tell from your post.
It sounds to me like the following.
1. You made a sketch with points.
2. Then you opened the HoleWiz and proceeded to go about using the points created in the first sketch to drive location for the HoleWis points.
If...
Dave,
My workaround is as follows.
1. Select top item featrue tree of ASM
2. Select the "icon" for unsuppress w/dependants. (from "features toolbar)
Now, with that said, I can not remember if you get this icon by default (meaning it is showing on default install).
If not:

FWIW,
I just installed them. Indeed the "select lock" issues are gone it seems. The new flashing hourglass is sort of funny looking (you see this now when sketch items are selected and you move w/spaceball). However, at least you can select and move now. I have no idea how well these...
cmm,
FWIW, I have made many, many edits to the ansiinch.mdb file in order to add hole wizard thread types/sizes. I do agree with APPENG, in that SldWks by no means recomends this. I would also note that I am making my changes to a backed up file. As well as NOT making changes to the...
JNR,
This is a bit over the top...

I see nothing of the sort. Everything is just fine here. Far as my box goes 3Dconnexion is doing just fine. First, this "issue" you...
TateJ,
Of course you can turn it off :)
Procedure as follows:
Start SldWks
Select 3DControl from the pull down menu
Select Properties
Select the options tab
Confirm that checkbox "Move on Select"(Under drawing views) is NOT CHECKED!
(right hand side, middle of dialog box)

MacPT, Your solution worked great. Everything is much more clear now. It works fine.
This is the complete macro for anyone that wants it. Of course your plane names might be different. The edits that requires should be pretty easy.

I would like to check to see if an object selected is a component or a sub-asm via the API. I am having no luck. Things I think should work don't seem to. The following is really annoying:
retval = Component2.GetChildren ()
If this assembly component is a part document, SolidWorks returns NULL...
Oliver,
>Am I doing something wrong?
Possibly. As this works great for most. You can do this thing you want to do. I just needs to be set up properly.
This is right from the sheet format of a .drwdot file of mine.

This updates the drawing with a prop value from...
Wow, that suckzors. At any rate I agree Scott. Anything registry related is use at risk at best. However, some days I feel the same about SldWks, so what the hell. Nothing risked is nothing gained. :)
I have used this w/o issue at least 1-3 times. I have also recomended it to several who do...
Scott,
Don't tell me you are gonna "hold out" on these guys:)
>Toolbars - Your SOL
Ok, for the record the toolbars can be saved. In fact SldWks does it at the following locations it seems.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolidWorks\SolidWorks 2003\User Interface]
and...
MrVirus,
I would look to eBay for a spaceball. That is about as cheap as you are going to get one. I got both of my 2003's for 30 each. I don't know if you can get the devices you mention to work as a spaceball does.
Again, I would try eBay.
