    Scale Problem

You might also consider cation exchange softening to reduce Scale forming hardness. Nanofiltration is another treatment option. S. Bush www.water-eg.com

    Frequent CIP

Silt density index is a measurement of the colloidal suspended matter in the water supply. Colloidal matter is not filterable by sand filter alone or cartridge filter or softener or carbon filter. Some coagulants can be effective in some cases, but not every, when used in conjunction with sand...

    Problem rinsing cation/anion stream online

I've experienced what you're seeing and doing. The likely culprit is poor liquid distribution and/or collection. If the regenerant distributor and/or under drain collector was never inspected, tested (hydraulically) or cleaned prior to the resin replacement, "hideout" could be occurring. The...

Floc Forming After Aeration To Reduce Hydrogen Sulfide

Floc Forming After Aeration To Reduce Hydrogen Sulfide

Thank you both for your interest. I've learned that the white floc is elemental sulfur. It is filterable using conventional sand media. If the feedwater pH were lowered sufficiently, as BIMR mentions, elemental sulfur wouldn't form after aeration.

Floc Forming After Aeration To Reduce Hydrogen Sulfide

The last two paragraphs of my post are what I'm really looking for.

Floc Forming After Aeration To Reduce Hydrogen Sulfide

We are treating 650 gpm of well water to reduce hydrogen sulfide odor. Immediately after aeration (bubble-tray type), we are seeing a feathery, white "floc" that resembles surface water treatment floc, however there are no coagulants added to this feedwater. Only aeration, no chemicals, not...

    Sieman's Mulitwash Systems

If I may be so bold as to answer your last question ahead of the General Filter salesman's pending response. Their trough is surrounded by curve-plate baffles (what you called wings). These two plates overlap underneath the trough, but at the same time, they are off-set in the vertical...

    Pretreat MVC system

It is always better to remove iron and other contaminants as far upstream of the critical process as possible. Chemical conditioning does not remove the iron from the feedwater and, therefore, when operating conditions change, such as temperature elevation, the iron can become oxidized and form...

Antennas, Elevated Water Tanks, and Stud Welding

It's definitely going to "brown" the interior coating in that spot. Will that compromise the coating? I wouldn't want to find out by trial and error. The first time one of our welders forgot to install an exterior bracket for a tank name plate, I decided to have him affix the bracket with...

    Combined Water/Air Backwash of RGF

Answer: (1) Backwash flow range is reasonable for combined air-water method. Answer: (2) Combined air-water method must have lower backwash rate. Check with the manufacturer of the air-water backwash collection trough. They should be the ones feeding design information to your mechanical...

    manganese greensand system

Good eyes, bimr! I missed the high temperature factor. Inversand, the manufacturer of Greensand, indicates precautions should be taken above 80-degrees F. Another acceptable means of removing oxidized iron and manganese from hot water is by using a high-rate anthracite filter (or filters, in...

    manganese greensand system

This forum is specifically for engineering topics and not commerce, so your post might be removed. I will try to answer your question from an "Engineering Tips" point of view. Since you specifically mention the product, Manganese Greensand, why don't you contact the company that mines and...

    DI Water for Humidity Chambers

GarySCWSVI, Blending 18 meg water with raw water to 1 meg target quality: seems like it might be extremely difficult to acheive and maintain. For instance, at a flow rate of 3 gpm/cubic foot of resin and a raw water quality of 100 ppm of total dissolved solids (as CaCO3), what would be the...

    Powder Coating on Cement/Concrete?

Another method might be metalizing with pure zinc or aluminum wire using a thermal-spray or flame-spray aparatus. We use Sulzer Metco wire. Metalizing is used quite a lot on bridges. I think Metco's web site mentions concrete applications, or you could call them. S. Bush www.water-eg.com
