Can anyone verify a rumor I heard?

How can convince my employer, which essentially means the IT guy, that this is legal? Is there any documentation to support the installation of one seat on multiple computers? Rustdogbrown

Can anyone verify a rumor I heard?

I know this will sound like a stupid question, but here goes. If my company has installed solidworks on my computer at work can I install that software on my personal computer at home? Someone told me that solidworks allows this. It does not sound true. Can anyone elaborate? Rustdogbrown

    explosive boss

ramnam and others, I know exactly how you feel. I am in the same position. A previous boss once told me:"manage the problem, not the person". I think this is a wise approach when dealing with difficult peers/co-workers and maybe even bosses/supervisors. But in my case, and...

    global mass property settings

Actually I just realized that an answer to my original question will not work. Thanks for the offer. regards

    global mass property settings

Is there any way to change the mass property settings for the whole program so that, for example, a new value for density will cascade through every single solidworks model file? I ask this question in an attempt to avoid the process of opening up every individual file and changing the density...

    converting Pro/E edu 2001 file to Pro/E pro 2001

I have files created on an educational version of 2001 and cannot open them on the professional version of 2001. First of all is this illegal to do? 2nd, how can I do this. I have heard of a converter that is an add-in to Pro/E 2001. Where is the add-in on my program? I have opened up two...

    Revision management

I would take the time to give everything a part number. Down to what is delivered by your suppliers or what comes out of the CNC, etc. Even have P/N's for the workpiece and machine time/labor time. Then construct BOM's for your finished deliverables. Tedious at first, rewarding later. Regards

    Class Recommendations for Engineering Technician?

Joe, 1) I recommend getting a Mechanical Engineering Handbook and investing the time to study statics and dynamics, asking your boss questions when you need help. Take advantage of having an old schooler around-invaluable! 2) I converted from Pro-E to Solidworks and pretty much had to figure...

    Hole Wizard Innacuracies

Yes, this is a good idea. But isn't the whole idea of Hole Wizard that you should not have to reference a machinist handbook?

    Revision management

I think it would be nice if SW was "link friendly" with excel. Then all of BOM'sand other costing info could be updated automatically. New part numbers and description could be managed concurrently with drawings and revisions......the advantages are many. Let me know if you find...

    Hole Wizard Innacuracies

Has anyone noticed that Hold Wizard information sometimes needs to be taken with a grain of salt. For example, a close fit for an M12 bolt equates to a 13mm hole size aaccording to the Hole Wizard. Normal fit is 14mm and loose fit is 15mm. What standards is the Hole Wizard based on?

    Dimensioning in Solidworks

That last post was helpful, thank you. But I don't have "define by hole wizard" as a display option. I am operating 2001 so there might be a difference. Thanks again.

    Dimensioning in Solidworks

Yes, I ahve tried using the Hole Callout option in the annotation menu. It will display the diameter and the depth, with the appropriate symbols, however, they are not accurate. I feel that I have exhausted the help option. Any other ideas? Thanks for all the responses by the way. It just...

    Dimensioning in Solidworks

I want a call out to show up that feeds off of the information of the hole that I created in the model using the hole wizard. So that if I decide to change the hole from a M10x1 to an M12x1 in the model that update is automatic in the model. I know about insertng the model dimensions, but that...
