FNA should give you good results provided modes have been captured correctly. You must include Links in Ritz Modes and try attempting it again.

I have used SAFE many times but haven't encountered any such difficulty. I think there may be some error in modeling. Check your model thoroughly and I believe it will work.

You can try using plate on elastic medium analogy. SAFE is one such program which can be used effectively. Though other softwares may also do the same job. See Joseph Bowles book for such a modelling.
