Design recomendations for steam volume in HRSG

Abcmex, This equation is similar to Dubbel recomendation. I attached an extract from his book: Dubbel: Taschenbuch für den Maschinenbau Also I have another text (without references) for smoketube boilers with pressure lower than 20 bar, suggesting that the R from my previous answer above...

Design recomendations for steam volume in HRSG

Dear Abcmex, I am also looking for a good reference for this design criteria. If you find something let me know! (rr_boilers@yahoo.com.br) Based on several existing boilers and on our own experience as boilers and HRSG manufacturer, I have been using the following numbers: P - R...

    Latent Heat calculation

Hello Skumar84! Why would you want to calculate the latent heat? Normally, we should avoid condensating water in the flue gas stream as it may cause corrosion over all the carbon steel surfaces in the economizer and after it. The main data necessary for a preliminary design of an economizers...

Boiler Design: Top or Bottom Supported?

I have seen that most small boilers (below 100 ton/h of steam) are "bottom supported" design, while bigger boilers are "top supported". I am trying to understand which variables impose the use of the more expensive top supported design, even in places without seismic loads. I appreciate if...

    Combustion Thermodynamics

I don´t believe H first forms water and then steam. But that is not the point! The losses correspond to all the energy from flue gas that could not be recovered considering the initial temperature of the system (32F). If you could recover energy until the flue gas temperature reaches 32F, then...

    Combustion Thermodynamics

I completely agree with DanBerry´s first paragraph!

    Emergency feed water supply

Can you have two motor driven pumps, each one connected to a different network power? RR

    Boiler Feed Water Tank

The boiler feed water tank doesn't need to be a pressure vessel. Be careful if there is a valve in the vent line! If there is a valve (even if the tank operates if the valve opened) I would categorize the tank as a pressure vessel. I also suggest checking the pump for cavitation. Regards, RR79.

    Boiler Lower Drum Damaged (Repair?)

Thank you for your answers! We used NBIC 1, and the boiler is operating fine since yesterday. Regards, RR79

    Boiler Lower Drum Damaged (Repair?)

Some tube leaking near to the drum caused damage to the drum shell (lower drum). The boiler rate is 100ton/h @ 24bar (220462 lbs/hr @ 348psi). The nominal drum thickness is 31.7mm (1 1/4") and the minimum thickness at the damaged area is around 6mm (1/4") !! What should be the recomended...

    Software for boiler detailed design

Dear all, I would like to know wich softwares are most used for boilers drawings (Autocad, Inventor, Solid Edge, Solid Works, Catia,...). Regards, RR

    Labor Standards

I attached an interesting publication from the magazine "The FABRICATOR". This is not centered on Pressure Vessels, but may be helpful. I would appreciate if someone could send something related to pressure vessels or boilers. Regards, Rogério...
